I have been so wrapped up in the oil wars here and CAD drawings lately I have not even been out of the house since Saturday night.
As some of you guys know, I had a kinda disappointing dyno day at only 404HP SAE. Ive been kinda scratching my head over what went wrong and tonight I had to go put some hands on the truck.
Started by adjusting my idle and then it hit me like a ton of bricks.
I replaced my fuel shut-of solenoid last year sometime and was in a big hurry to get to Houston for something and never adjusted it.
I decided that it may not have been fully elevating the lever. I was right the dern thing was not pulling the lever up to required height. I messed with it getting it adjusted and went for a test drive. I can tell the lever was a part of the trouble I had at the higher rpm band. Some of the top end is stronger. Must have had a full power fuel starvation.
Its not 100 percent yet, but its getting better.
Timing is gonna get checked next.
Does anyone have a good set-up or ideas on a compression tester? I want so bad for the rings to be worn I cant stand it. Cause if the rings are worn... I can get a new shortblock and the wife wont veto it.
Is 400 pounds of compression 'bout right for the engine?
Don~
