I'm running a Glacier Diesel Power GFS-392 fuel system with MK-2 with big line kit. In my setup I have the GDP pump feeding the stock filter housing and the stock filter housing feeding the MK-2 filter system.

What is your opinion?

I wonder if the moisture separator works as well without the stock filter element? I kept the stock in place.

Same way I have mine. I was skeptical about this little pump being able to push the fuel all that way and through 2 filters but it has surpassed my expectations. Mine is set at 36 psi and it's tough to pull it down.

I still have the stock pump in the tank and run a filter in the stock canister, and also have the 2 micron filter from GPD and the big hose kit and works very well. I also have the fuel pressure gauge tapped in after the second filter so that I can tell the filters are plugging off. So far the pressure has not dropped in the 15K mile intervals.

your stock filter is an FS in fleetguard language that means water seperating ability, your GDP 2mic fleetguard is an FF5319 that means water will not be filtered out it will go right thru to your pump and injectors.

I voted to keep the stock filter element, but my vote has nothing to do with extending the service life of the 2-micron filter. I plan to service/r&r the filters at every other oil change. My vote was based entirely on the fact that the stock filter separates the water and would catch larger particles up to 7-microns. Then the added filtration would get the 7-micron to 2-micron particles. Having that 'stepping' filtration is always better than a 'one-size-fits-all' filter. Canister it there, why not use it as intened with a filter and the water separation capabilities.

Has anyone had any difficulties with waxing or plugged lines when using the GDP 2 filter big line kit after the stock filter? It seems to me that the GDP filter would be subject to cold weather solidification issues. If this can be a problem, how can it be resolved ? I have the kit but have not installed it due to these questions. I plan on running the stock filter and fuel pump. Anybody have some answers??

Thanks, Chuck

I live in the high mesa mountains of New Mexico, right at 7K ft elevation. It gets cold, snows, hails, freezing rain, etc - all kinds of weather. I have had NO problem or have had a need regarding cold weather solutions.

My filter is mounted under the intake horn, the lines run the same along the block just like the stock lines, plenty of engine heat in that area. Probably the only cold weather solution I would look into IF I had a cold weather problem was the addition of a cold weather front. That would solve a cold air problem in that area. I originally was planning a frame type mounting when I ordered my kit, but thought that might actually be where the system would suffer the most during cold weather, so I had Richard send me the intake horn mount.

I have been out in some real blizzards and severly cold temps with NO problems. I do not have a garage, do not plug in a heater cord, my truck is exposed to the elements 24-7.
