Why do bigger injectors run hotter while towing?

Getting ready to do a install on dad's truck and had a couple questions?

First off the install seems pretty straight forward, but my question is when installing the 2 micron filter they have it being installed in series with the stock one but after it... So all fuel is being filtered by the stock one then the 2 micron one... ... With that being said can the stock filter handle the fuel pressure?

Also does it really matter what filter it goes through first? just curious, maybe i am not seeing/understanding something here..... I was told that if you have the 2 micron filtering first that you would plug up a filter alot faster than if you did it the other way..... Can someone please shine some light on this..... I am kinda in the dark here... . THANKS

The stock filter will catch all the crud that is bigger than 7 microns. The 2 micron filter only has to deal with the 2-6 micron contaminates that the stock filter can't collect and the occasional bigger pieces that the stock one misses also. If you run the 2 micron before the stock setup you might as well get the water separator setup from GDP and leave the filter out of the stock filter bowl.

in stock trim the GDP kit puts out about 17 psi. the stock filter housing is supposedly good to 40-50 psi, after that you will blow the lid. if you put the 2 micron before the stock filter, you might as well run it with out a stock filter in the housing, it isn't going to be doing anything. another reason to put the 2 micron after the stocker is for the fuel heater/WIF sensor. the fuel will be warmed by the stock housing so it is less likely to plug the 2 micron when it starts to gel versus before

don't leave out your stock filter you will lose your water seperator ability. the stock filter has the FS prefix, which for Fleetguard filters designates a water seperating filter, the GDP 2mic is a FF prefix which can not remove water and will let it pass through to your pump and injectors. Also instead of using the FF5320 try the FF5319 its about 60 percent larger(longer)and cost the same as the 5320,10. 00bucks at the local kenworth dealer.
