GM Tow Mirror ?

Anyone know why GM switched tow mirrors for '06? Went from powervision to a mirror that looks like a Ford style. Just curious.

Having had an '04 with their towing mirrors I can honestly say they weren't worth shyt. The field of vision was poor regardless of the gee-whizz telescopic feature, and even fairly large cars could vanish in the resulting blind spots. I found myself inventorying the traffic around me to avoid running over one. Even without flipping them up the Dodge tow mirrors are far superior.
