Going from sps62 to ps62?

I've been considering making a change to help spool up a little faster while at the same time hopefully delivering a little bit more air. My light weight 2wd runs great, but the turbo definitely works better with a load on it. I've been kicking around switching to something smaller on the exhaust side to help clean up the smoke. Surging and egt isn't really a concern as this truck doesn't tow anything too big. Don't get me wrong it will run, but I believe that it could be better. Does this make any sense? Been thinking about a ps62 or 64 with a 14cm exhaust housing- I figure that 12 is too small.

I guess switching from the sps to ps will decrease my initial spool time, but will it be slower to max boost overall?

Also head is o-ringed and studded.

been there done that. i had a sps62 until i just couldnt handle the poor botttom end spool up. dont get me wrong its a very fun turbo once you get it spooling. i now have a ps62/14 and it is much better daily driving around town. its not instant spool up but it sure does take less peddle to get it going. remind you i also have a 4. 10 rear end wich i was told is better for spool up.

After initial spool is it slower to max psi?

on edit: maybe driving my 05 lately in the snow has got me spoiled- Gotta love that instant power! I'm wondering what a ps64 or with a 12cm housing would be like?

Well, I ended up ordering a ps62/80 and can change to a 70/12cm housing if needed- but was told I should be happy with the 80. I figure that someone might be interestead in my sps62.

I can switch housings and use it for the 05. I really wasn't planning on doing a turbo on that truck, maybe a cam+small injectors for mpg...
