Here we go again! As many of you know I had shoulder surgery last fall (3 bone spurs removed). Well, monday night I woke up at 2:00 am in excruciating pain - the worst pain I've had my entire life! I woke my wife up and had her drive me into the ER. The pain was so bad that I was seeing color flashes/waves of color in my vision, hot and cold flashes, sweating, and couldn't control my breathing. At the hospital they took x-rays and couldn't see anything so they pumped me up on pain killers and told me to call my orthopedic surgeon. In 4 hours they gave me 2 vicodin, 2 motrin, a shot of morphene, 1 benadryl (spot where they gave me the morphene was swelling), 2 valium, and then another shot of morphene. Even after all that I was still in pain!

Got into the surgeon on wednesday and they took more x-rays and then sent me out for an emergency mri and blood work. They thought I had a bone infection and knew I had a bone spur in the joint (which they must have missed the first time around or is new). The good news is that today I got the results back and there is no sign of infection (which would have meant 4-6 weeks of IV antibiotics and 2-3 surgeries!). But they don't know what caused the loss of bone (there is a spot on the top of my shoulder where it looks like something took a bite out of the bone) - they are going to look into it when they do the surgery. So on thursday I go under the knife again to remove the bone spur and explore what's going on with the bone. I'm on percoseth between now and then so I can't drive :( . Functioning at all is difficult since I'm stoned all day long - and it sucks, don't like this feeling.

So try and be easy on me for the next couple of weeks or so guys. The other moderators and Robin will be helping out a lot with the moderating and hopefully there won't be any major website problems. If so I'll deal with it as best I can. If there are any major problems on thursday through early friday I'll work on it as soon as possible - keeping my fingers crossed. If I don't get back to you on an email or a PM I didn't do it on purpose - if you don't hear from me after a week or so please email me again - I may have deleted it in a drugged up stupor.

Thanks for being patient with me :) .

Good luck with the surgery - hope it's the first step towards complete recovery.

We'll try to behave ourselves while you're out. So who's got dibs on throwing out 'wait till your father gets home (or is coherent)'?

Brian

Good luck Steve, even I promise to behave while you are out and if I can do it everybody can... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ..... well what about Doc:confused:

Get better soon, Kevin

Make sure you get the used parts and get a receipt!!

Oh sorry, wrong thread:p

Good luck Steve, guess we'll have to go back to calling you "minivan Steve" for a while?

But enough about your sex life, Steve - how's the shoulder?:-laf :p ;)

Sorry, buddy. :) Seriously - good luck with the surgery. You'll be back up on your fingers in no time. :)

Just got home guys. Surgery went well and they expect a full and quick recovery. I'm in less pain now than I was this morning - of course the demoral injection + 2 percoseth may have something to do with that :D. I'll be going to bed early tonight - just waiting for dinner to be finished cooking, I'm STARVING. The surgeon told my wife that there was so little space in the joint that he couldn't fit his normal tool down in there! It was constant bone on bone contact. Thanks for the thoughts, ttyl.

Glad to hear your home safe Steve. It appears the drugs are working, were those in the spell check? Just kiddin. So did the doc squirt a little Amsoil down between the bones?

Glad to hear everything went well..... Hopefully they got it all this time.

As for Percoset..... got to love it...

I had neurosurgery once and the nurse came in and asked if I wanted *tylenol*. I said sure, 2 please... . Well I was still loopy and it turned out she was talking Percoset... . Stoned for 2 days. No pain though. hehe
