Is it possible to bend a rod hydrolocking with fuel

Gear position indicator

About to go on vacation and would like to replace the trans fluid in my 47RE. Is there a fluid available that you'd recommend as being as good or better than the Mopar fluid? Availability is more of an issue than price.
Thanks for your advice and experiences.

Dave Gorend hey? I went to his shop and had a trans built for towing by him 8 years ago. So I would take his word on the subject as gospel.
Thanks for the input guys. My stress levels are way down now. Only problem is I can't find any ATF+4 in gallons, I want 2, before I do an oil change. Why? 2 days ago I spent 15 minutes backing my fiver up my steep driveway, and trying to get the wheels within an inch or so of perfect I started getting alarms on my Edge monitor. TFT was showing as 140, and deep pan sensor showed 130 for about 5-10 minutes max. Scared me, as I am getting ready for a 1000 mile towing vacation, and didn't want any trans issues. Soon as I unhooked I took the truck out on the road and cooled down the trans fluid to 195 in 5 miles, in 100F temps outside.
Iam thinking about just taking along 8 qts of ATF+4 and a new 3 gallon sealable catch pan. Then if I sense any issues I can always just drain the pan and install new fluid, in a campground if necessary.
The current fluid has about 10K towing miles, with a double deep MagHytec pan. Oil smells a little off sweet, but not burnt yet.
How does my plan sound?

DTT did mine long ago. If I drain the TC (which I do everytime) and the trans. it takes 16 qts. to refill. If it doesn't smell burnt I think I would move on.

You are fine, that fully Synth oil can take that heat for such a short time.
No need to worry about it.
All is good.

That’s really not hot, but dropping the oil regularly will keep things from tarnishing up. Nothing wrong with too much maintenance, except the expense.

My old motor home would get over 300° all the time when pulling steep grades. I'm sure it spent hours at those temps. I pulled it down at 30k as I was sure everything was toasted, every seal was just as soft as the new ones I installed. You could still read the numbers on the face of most of the clutch plates. Since then I quit being concerned with elevated trans temps, especially if they were not high for very long. The transmissions can take way more heat than we think.
