After 6 years and just a few $$$$$$$$$$ I decided to sell my 03 CTD. My wife said it was a love hate relationship - I loved it and she hated it. :) While I enjoyed building and modifying it in the end it was sold mainly because of my body and the clutch not getting along. My "new" truck had to be an Automatic and altho I was originally thinking about a Mega Cab for the family the short box idea didn't sit too well with me. A fellow TDR member offered to sell me his 08 and despite the fact it was still a Quad Cab because I knew the history ( he bought it new) and what he had done to it I bought it. He towed a 26' Arctic Fox with it so I new it would pull my 28' Frontier. It only has 113k kms ( about 70k miles ) on it and is in excellent condition. My wife commented that "you could drive it just the way it is - RIGHT ". Fat chance of that happening :-laf.

Before I sold the 03 I removed the canopy, swapped over my running boards for the factory tube bars that were on the 08 and removed my box mounted aux fuel tank. I also removed my Light Force 170 driving lights but left the N-Fab light bar because it was such a pain to install in the first place. I sold the 03 to a co worker of the mechanic who helped me build the engine. I got some money, an aluminum front bumper ( built by Bandit Bar - Similar to a Herd ) with LED light and 4 tires and rims from a 2015 Laramie as well. You never get your money back but I am happy with the deal.

Because I don't like low canopies and this one interferes with my aux tank I will sell it and install my white one from the 03. For now it will remain white as we are leaving on holidays next week. I do want to get the spray in box liner extended to cover the top edge of the box and tailgate as the red canopy had worn thru the paint.

Actually I don't plan on doing anything to the engine. It already has a Smarty and some stuff "fell"off a long time ago. So far I am happy with the power. We leave Monday with the trailer. We are headed to Brooks AB so no real hills to pull. Next month we will be travelling highway 93 between Banff and Jasper.

Nice truck Dave! What CaTCHER level is the Smarty set at? Does the trans have a Mag-Hytec pan on it? This helps with the 68RFE to run cooler when towing.

I am running Level 3 and I tow at that level.

Just curious but what is the official word on the US EPA crap on trucks up there. Do they require too?

I am on Smarty Level 3. Trans has the deep pan. The trans shifts nice and firm as well with the H&S. All vehicle coming into Canada as far as I know have pretty well the same "EPA CRAP" that you have to deal with. In Alberta we can get away with removing it but you will have no warranty and I've been in the case of semis the dealer won't take in back on a trade in if the stuff is missing. We don't like the EPA either.

Thought: Since a lot of Americans seem to like the NRA and hate the EPA why not put them together in the same room and see what happens :)
