I was in Maryland this past weekend (BelAir, just moved there). Walking into the grocery store I heard a CTD coming up behind me and turned around. WOW... What a great sounding rig. Very deep low rumble from the exhaust pipe and strong turbo whine even at low RPM's.

I have a Banks Monster Exhaust and do not get such a sweet sound out of it. What is the best sounding exhaust available? I want to upgrade as I love the sound of a good exhaust with these clattering engines.

Thanks ahead of time!!

RBallard Helped me to find the sound I was looking for. 4 inch straight pipe with a 22 inch 6 inch tip, will make some good sound.

I just removed my muffler today with Geno's kit and kept the resonator. It sounds sweet! Wish I would have done this a year ago.

Replace the stock muffler with straight-pipe. Leave the stock resonator in place or the drone will drive you nuts. :)

The resonator is under the cab, and looks like a straight thru muffler which basically what it is.

exhaust

I have a summit 4 inch kit. . it sounded good, not too loud in cab get onit and it had a nice deep throaty sound. I like for my ears to bleed so I put a stick of dynamite in my muffler and blew that piece of s*@t from here to kingdom come:D IMHO straight pipes rule!!!

I straightpiped my ram but removed the resonator. BIG mistake, it is going back on soon as the drone is awful. The outside sound is awesome, nice deep tone with sparkley turbo sizzle!!

Last summer when the tailpipe broke off just after the muffler, I had the shop straightpipe the exhaust - about $50. Removed both the muffler and resonator. It does sound strong and I haven't noticed any drone.

Straight Piped

I live in Pylesville and my truck is straight piped. Could have been me turning around to get the hell out of Belair, too many nasty people in that town for me. (my apologies to the rest of the people that live there) Most diesel heads think it sounds pretty good. I kept the resonator though. I often see a Blue 2nd gen in that area, truck sounds real good and is obviously overfueled judging by the exhaust. Anyway Run your rig up to Bippers (on the hill across from Salvo's in the old belair bowl parking lot) and have em eliminate the muffler for ya (about $75).

My truck is Black with a black cap, I usually drive too fast and look ****** off. Welcome to town.

See Ya:)

If it was Saturday and it was silver it could have been me also! (What does everybody travel through Belair lately?) Keene Dodge is in the area, they've populated the area pretty well! I've got a 4" Flowmaster system that I love! Good sound, not annoying, and bumped my fuel mileage about 5% over the stock system. Again welcome to the area! Belairs really buildin'

It was a white sport...

The truck I saw was a white sport long bed SRW. It was a stick as I could tell by the way he accelarated. I have though about it long and hard and will probably stay with the banks setup. It is not as loud as I would like but it sounds really good. I will pop the silencer ring out tonight. I do not know if that changes the tome at the tailpipe or just under the hood??

You guys know of any good diesel shops in the BelAir area??

Thanks

I bought the Walker 22572 muffler for my truck. Good turbo noise out of the tailpipe. I love the sound as does everyone else who hears it from all the comments I get on it.

I know a cool guy up near York, Pa. I'll find his number for you. He's got a 98 24 valve that he claims puts out 950ft/lbs. AT THE WHEELS!! Sounds like drive shaft replacement waiting to happen. He's a Cummins mechanic so he's very knowledgable under the hood. I'm not sure if he knows, or cares, about the rest of the truck!

I straight piped my '02 3" stock exhaust but it was just over the top for me. (muffler and stock resonator removed) So I put in a 3" straight through resonator. Perfect! Deep rumble with a growl under load. Took out the silencer ring and added a BHAF and the turbo sings! Come to think of it, I haven't turned on the stereo since. Hmmmm...

BTW no drone.

Ryker, Sorry I took so long to get back to you. There's a guy just south of York you might want to talk to. He's in Dallastown to be exact, (717)244-4730. If you have questions he has answers! He loves his Dodges and likes to make 'em run!!! His wife Daphney is almost as knowledgable as he is! See ya, Greg

where is the silencer ring in the banks monster exhaust? im a new member and just been reading the posts for the past week trying to catch up on some education ;o
