I'm going to need a new starter for my truck.
I've read that Denso and Bosch remanufactured are quality products.
That's why I went to Cummins they have always been a little high for new ones. This is where I got mine. I replaced with a new unit but plan to buy the kit and rebuild the old one.
LarryB's Replacement Denso Starter EASY rebuild kit for 94-06 Cummins (fostertruck.com)
LarryB's. 428000-5940 NEW Genuine DENSO OEM Starter Fits Dodge Cummins (fostertruck.com)
Actually I see it in there, and that link says it is a NEW one. For $362 not a bad price, since LarryB link is like $200 more, and I feel they are identical units. Not bashing the markup but that's a big difference for equal parts. This company offers remanufactured units. The truck may be gone in a couple of years anyway.
Genuine Denso Starter, 2003-2007 5.9L Cummins (ddsrubicon.com)
Unfortunately, our quality rebuild business sold and as with everything these days quality went downhill.Find a local rebuild house . They use quality parts .
It says new but down below I'm reading it's remanufactured. I'll give them a call on Monday.Actually I see it in there, and that link says it is a NEW one. Mine came with a Chrysler tag on it and was a Denso, really nice unit. (2nd Gen)
Good luck.
