I waited with great anticipation for my 6. 7L after ordering it in February. However, 4 months and 17K miles later, I waited with even greater anticipation to rid myself of the same vehicle. Owning a faithful 5. 9L for 8 years and 318K miles, the 6. 7L proved to be a major disappointment. It is obvious the 6. 7L is not the same truck I read about in interviews with Dodge and Cummins engineers in several publications. Although the problems were varied---multiple check engine lights, power steering pump, a/c compressor, turbocharger, poor fuel mileage---the check engine light and turbo problems were seemingly EGR related. When Chrysler repurchased the truck, the second a/c compressor and turbo were acting up AGAIN. All of this is a shame because this was a great looking, driving and riding truck. There is no doubt in my mind this vehicle was not adequately tested before being released to the public. Furthermore, in defense of Chrysler, the federal government has once again put its nose where it does not belong. Although you can breathe the exhaust coming out of the tailpipe, we have taken a 25% hit on fuel mileage. So explain to me, what exactly did we do for the environment?
I would like to take this opportunity to thank the TDR community for insight and perspective. I encourage you to keep the feet of Dodge and Cummins close to the fire. Historically, they have had a great product; however, YOU cannot allow that fact to give them a pass on the shortcomings of the 6. 7L. That will only continue to frustrate and anger the loyal Dodge/Cummins owners who believe in, and have helped promote the attributes of the 5. 9L, only to be disillusioned with the 6. 7L.
In the mean time, "IF" I return to TDR, I will be on the 5. 9L side of the forum...
