I got asked this question for the ump-teenth million time tonight by someone who was not very knowledgeable in BOMBing.
Pulled into the Flying J in Franklin KY (only 20 miles from my town & $. 25+ cheaper a gal. ) and there was a really nice Silver CC 3500 4x4 with a slide in and one of those little two horse tag-a-long trailers.
Well I pull in and turn around and back up to the motor home fuel island and proceed to call inside and have the pump turned on. Well the guy was eyeing my truck as soon as I pulled in to begin with. So no sooner than I get the nozzel in he walks over and the first thing he say's is "got a chip in it"
I think to myself "oh boy here we go"
and proceed to tell him that no I didn't, was planning on a Torque plate but decided to start searching for a 97 CC like mine a couple of days ago. So we get to talking and he tells me about this 24 Valve he has that has a chip and a bigger turbo and how unstreetable this thing is. Said "you can't shift fast enough to keep the heat down" I was thinking of telling him he needed a bigger housing and exhaust but didn't think he would listen to a 19 year old. We talked for a few more minutes and I mentioned BMD and Briar's bad@$$ Dually and TDR. Turns out the guy was a prior member but just didn't have the time to keep up with it. He was from California but I never did ask his old TDR name.
Anyhow how many times has someone unknowledgeable come up to you and said "got a chip in it"
