Got my EZ from Autowurks today. Slapped it on and WHOOOO! Mucho difference. I runs like a Cummins now. Almost as good as my modified 12valver did. Great addition, don't really know why Cummins and Dodge can not make it run like this when you roll em' off the lot. Anyway I was a hard sell on this product but I think I am happy with it. Hope my mileage does improve some, especially when towing.

They can, but...

Cummins would be glad to supply any power rating DC wants. DC engineers are slow to give up week parts that the Cummins fastens to (transmissions, clutches, rear-ends).

Did you attach the fuel pump wire? Just curious. I have been thinking about a EZ (durn bombing bug, get away!). How easy was it to install?

good going Chace

Glad to hear that you got started BOMBing. Now all you need is some injectors and your ready to go man. Go find some used, cheap DD2's, and a Piers turbo and you'll be happyer then a duck with a loaf of bread:D

Rashwor,

The EZ plugs into a test port that is just plugged with a dummy to keep dirt out and another plug hooks up at the map sensor. It does not tap any wires. Very easy install, a 5th grader could do it. I want power and economy when towing, so the EZ seemed like a logical choice.

The EZ does not have a fuel pump wire hookup. It just hooks up to the MAP sensor. The Power Edge Hot & Comp has the hookup for the pump wire & the MAP sensor. I have the EZ and I hooked it up in 2 minutes :)

Sorry Chace you beat me to it ;)

I take it back....

On second thought, skip the DD2's, and just get DD1's. I know of somebody who is selling these, and have not been in his truck but about 4 months. I don't know if he is selling them yet or not, but he will be soon. I'll see him this weekend as the dyno day in DFW. Are you goin to that? I'd love to compaire you EZ, to my COMP without pump wire.

About the DDII's

My wife said and I quote "If this does not fix your bad mileage when you are towing, too bad. You are not spending any more money on this truck. " So, I guess I will have to go stealth and save up for some "blackmarket" DDII's, or buy her a whole lot of stuff before I spend anymore on this goat. She is really nice, but between Dodge's and guns I spend up most of the extra dough.

I know the feeling, my girlfriend said... . "After the gauges we are going to buy me something. " I said... "what do you mean?" She replyed... . "we have spent all the $ on your truck, and nothing on me since you got it!"

Guess it's time to find a new girl. :D On second thought, she gave me $300 for gauges, and $120 for the COMP... . she's a keeper!!!

New EZ

Hey Chace, are you sure you're not married to my wife?:) That's exactly the same thing she said to me when I bought this truck. Anyhow, I am seriously considering the same purchase and I'm interested in your feedback as to how it helps with your towing performance/economy. I would like to just stick with an EZ and possibly 4" exhaust down the road, as I don't think I would ever really appreciate all the comp's capabilities. I know alot of the other members have supplemented their boxes with larger injectors, and because you have not (yet) done that, your setup is similar to mine. Thanks for the info.

You Will Love Towing !

Chase,

I think you will really love it when towing. On hills that used to need 4th, you will cruise up in 5th.

Now I remember why I'm not married. :D

NoCal HO PO,

I am going to do a little towing this weekend, will let you know how it goes. I will post again as soon as I can. I have a 20' gn stock trailer, hooked to my pickup all empty with just me and fuel weighs 13,??? I cannot remember exactly. I have been getting just over 10mpg running half empty and half loaded. Hope to get around 13mpg with the EZ on but, this may not happen. I hated the way it ran before, 5th was just for flatland, hope that all changes now.

Chace,

That's pretty creative, selling the wife on the EZ by claiming you will get better towing mileage! Just don't let her break out the calculator and start checking mileage, cause I'll bet your mileage will decrease by around 1 mpg.

I love my EZ, but certianly have not seen the mileage increase reported by some.

I don't do enough sustained towing to pass judgememt on what effect the EZ has on towing mileage, but on a typical tankful, I tow a 10K load maybe 100 miles out of the 450 or so total miles between fillups, and I've lost around 1 mpg since the EZ (definately worth it though). Maybe I'm losing a couple mpg empty and gaining a little towing, who knows? Let us know how you make out towing. I know you will appreciate the extra power regardless of what happens to your mileage.

Fun, Ain't It?

Chace,

I picked up about 10% in fuel mileage towing our 5th wheel when we added the EZ and 4" exhaust. You are running the boost elbow, right? With the higher boost (31-32 psig versus 22 psig stock), our maximum pre-turbo EGT's also dropped about 200 degF (1050-1100 degF versus 1250-1300 degF stock).

Edit - forgot to add that the hills that were 5th gear WOT when towing (US290 heading north into Johnson City or IH-10 heading west into Kerrville) are now 1/2-2/3 throttle in 6th. :D

I think emissions are the real reason that Cummins can't build it this way. They need the retarded timing and scaredy-cat fueling of the stock calibrations to meet NOx and smoke opacity requirements.

I have had an EZ on my auto since March and wouldn't trade it for the world. The truck had almost no power when towing anything at 70 mph. Now if you need to pass someone just ease down on the long pedal and you are gone. Mine recently went bad and put my truck into limp mode. I called Edge and he said he would have a new one on the way that day. Talk about great customer service. I can't wait til it gets here, she is no fun to drive stock anymore.

Hey TexDieselkid, I might be interested in those used DD I's of DD II if you know anyone who want to sell them let me know.

For you guys who want a mild hp increase ,I have upgraded my EZ , & 275,s which I found to be a good combo especially for towing . See my add in the classifieds or e-mail me.
