Competition Marine gasket

Well today I had some young punk kids in their mustang 5. 0 yelling at me to race. I had no problem with that so when the light turned green off we went. I smoked him, the kid never had a chance. All of a sudden, I see him in my review mirror turn off quickly into a neighborhood. First thought was, he's ashamed for getting his a** handed to him, but then I noticed the old red and blue flashing in my mirror. I pulled over and the cop asked me for my license and regerstration. Bout 10 minuets later, he came back with with a reckless driving and loud exhaust offenses. My stacks are not that loud, they have an MBRP muffler w/ internal mufflers inside the stacks. Anyway, the cop asks why I don't have a cat w/ my exhaust and I told him my truck didn't come with one. He said all vehicles have them, and I told him he was wrong. Didn't want to get into a pi**ing match with the guy so I said whatever. Now I have to go to court in a month. This is my first ticket. My insurance agent and wife won't be happy, but my truck sure made me proud.

Chris

Shame on you Mr. , shame ,shame!! ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ..... picking on those ford boys like that!!! :p

what do you mean reckless driving?? sounds to me like you had the situation completely under control!!!!

BTW you may want to get some evidence from dodge that there was no cat on an 03, before you head to court.

sorry for your trouble.

thats additional proof that fords can be bad for your health.

What tipped him off about the no cat? the soot? Did he even look for one?

Also, where I come from, if you "run away" while racing, you get pulled over. That's odd that he didn't go for the stang unless the cop was past the stang when he noticed I suppose.

He asked if I had a cat and I told him that this year diesel truck didn't come with one. When he said all vehicles do, I told him I would show him proof with paper work from dodge. Then he asked if I has a muffler and he did look under the truck and saw I had one, but this guy was PMSing I think :-laf

When it came time to who the cop was going to go after, he said he was going to go after the stang, but he thought it would be easier to catch me since I was still going straight. Then he made the comment, "When I see people drag racing, if I can catch atleast one of the drag racers, I always go after the winner, because he is the loser in the end. " What a jerk.

In Ohio a speeding ticket is more severe than reckless driving (bigger fine, more points). And racing is much more severe than either of those. IMO he let you off easy.

All the video taped street racing that goes on there and you get caught. That sucks. I think he was giving you the loud pipes just due to the way your exhaust exited not due to the noise.

Good luck at court.

Racing the Detroit streets, the loser always got the ticket. :)

Depending on the class of cars tho, the winner is typically to fast for most cop cars and the loser is ****** and not paying attention.

And yes, you can out run a radio. If the cop radioing in a call with a description that doesn't match the cars involved. :) And yeah, where we would roll there are a lot of "outs"... Around here in MSP there isn't really any place to run, especially on highway runs.

True story: 88 notch back stang (10's in the 1/4) vs some Trans am. Truck driver friend of ours has a scanner in his truck for work reason and heard over the radio "black ford torus. It's just to fast for the road, couldn't get a plate" (it's been years, something like that)... few minutes later, stang pulls up. Tow truck driver (friend) asked if he was just running from the cops..... Well, they got the black part right. that's about it. that's deniable in court if you ask me :)

That's what's weird, he saw no smoke at all. By the time I got going, my smoke had already cleared up. He was glancing at my pipes for awhile. I could see the wheels turning in his head, "These stacks are sweet, but I can't let him know I like 'em. " The poor guy probably does drive a furd or duracrap.

I was on a frontage road the other night. Got to a red light... a little Honda ricer pulled up next to me... like a 85 hatchback this thing was not joking about the length of my front fender. Anyway, this kid, mid 20's probably looks over at me and smiles and revs his engine. LMAO... . I almost ****** my self, I just started laughing, I wasn't going to race him, not worth the good ol' #2, but then he starts blowing me kisses, and I got sorta ******. So I throw it in 4, boost up, and never looked back. Well I guess this kid was still chasing me, cause at the next light, he pulls up behind me, and wouldn't you know it, a black and white right behind him with his lights on. This sucka got pulled over, and the trooper never thought about pullin me over. He must have been a proud owner of a CTD, or else heard me pass, looked up, and saw him goin by. Just thought this story fit the thread.

My brother was asked about racing once after an accident where he a Hemi and another truck were racing. A bystander said my brother's truck spun his tires, but he denied it to the cop. The cop didn't believe him, stacks gave it away I guess. None the less he didn't get anything since it was just heresay I guess.

It is amazing how many people want to race because of the stacks.

I will say that the DD clutch is harder to take off without getting some boost. It launces easier in 3rd than 2nd.

Its a shame race tracks are getting fewer and further in between. I mean theres no where around here in my area (Long Beach, Ca. ) to go drag race anymore. Im sure its getting like that across the country.

Where I live we used to be able to walk a couple blocks and look down at the ol Lyons Drag Strip when it was going strong on weekends. Now thats long gone. OCIR is gone, Terminal Island Raceway is gone. . now you need to drive clear out to the desert to dragrace.

Its no wonder people are trying to find places to street race. Not saying its right, just saying people need a practical place to go to "run what they brung & tow what they blow".

Man I know how the loser feels. Kind of an un-related story but here it is.

I pull up to this light in the left lane. As I am sitting there the guy in the right lane toots his horn and waves at me. Man I know this truck. A twin turbo'd 600 Hp, dualed up front shocks, lockered up rear diff with a Source Automotive tatoo in the rear window.

As I wave back I punch the pedal once. Then I give him the thumb up and the finger forward sign and punch the pedal again. Now as I am being so cool and all, he is watching the light turn green. Then eases right out with his . 023 second reaction time.

For me, I see him launching so I shove in the clutch and drop the transmission into first gear. Ease the clutch out go 15 feet and shift into 2nd gear. By now he is on the other side of the intersection and pulling away from me. I am thinking to myself that I can catch him, so no worries. The next light is about 1. 5 miles ahead so I have plenty of time to catch up.

Next the guy flat out loses his nerve. He goes about another 150 feet and makes a right turn into an eatery. Well I know he had to have chickened out, because he tried to cover all that up by using his right turn signal and by turning in there at a nice polite speed.

As I go by him I once again wave and he waves back, his wave was signalling defeat I am sure of it. Then from out of no where I here this BUUUUUUURRRRRR of a diesel coming from behind me. I mean by then I am going at least 20 mph. This Mack truck just goes zipping past me.

How bad can that suck?

I never even checked in my rear view mirror before the whole thing started. Never saw that truck sitting there with no trailer attached. Just a big white cab and 10 truck sized tires. Easy prey, how could I have missed that.

Well OK, he wants to race then RACE ON. The only problem was he was probably going 30 mph by then and I was probably going only 20 mph. Its all still good because the speed limit is 45 mph, and I figured that I had plenty of time.

I shift into 3rd gear and do an automatic rear view mirror smoke out check. Dang it if there is not a car right on my tail. No way can I make that car disappear into the twilight zone so I am forced to just ease the pedal down. I hit fourth at 40 mph, but its too late. That truck is already a half a block ahead and I have zero hopes of passing him now.

Starring at those 9 big rig tires spinning out there in front of me. My heart just sank and hit the bottom of my stomach like a 20 pound lead ball.

How could I pull up next to this guy aleady sitting at the light?

In the end I felt so disgraced. I mean, he had been sitting there stopped for at least 2 seconds. But hey, I just sucked up my pride and did it anyways.
