I agree on the lack of race tracks. We have to drive about 150 miles to the closest one. The closer one closed this year. There are ideas of a dragstrip in our area but the people within 10 miles of a location come and complain so they can never get zoning.

Hey Todd, which track closed? Been thinking about going up to Glenwood to take a few laps down the track there. If your interested, I'll let you know when we decide to go.

All of a sudden, I see him in my review mirror turn off quickly into a neighborhood.

When you see a Ford suddenly pull over it's because of mechanical failure. You were supposed to go back and tow him to the nearest repair shop.

Up here if you get caught street racing you can kiss your vehicle good bye for a month. Next you probably can say goodbye to your licence for a year. They have had a few problems with street racers crashing and killing innocent people.

Its a shame race tracks are getting fewer and further in between.

I think that's more a California thing. In my area I have 2 dragstrips within an hours drive and about 5 within 2 hours drive.

Up here if you get caught street racing you can kiss your vehicle good bye for a month. Next you probably can say goodbye to your licence for a year. They have had a few problems with street racers crashing and killing innocent people.

Here in Reno, NV the street racing problem got so bad that they made it illegal to be a bystander. A kid was killed recently trying to flee as the police showed up, he pulled in front of the 2 cars racing.

Just an update, I had my court date today. I walked away with a $125 fine + court fees. That was the minimum fine. I got lucky.

Good deal... I got a careless driving for having the truck sideways in two lanes. He clocked me goin 45 in a 35.



$250 for the ticket + $200 for the lawyer got it taken down to faulty equipment

I did enter a Michigan-left to fast with the Audi TT and under stear a bit and made a some tire noise just as the cop was going the other way. He stopped BEFORE my turn, and I just pulled over.



And the last one I can remember was here in Minnesota. 3 or 4am Fellow TDR member lost a pully and I waited behind while the tow truck was coming. Once we left we came up to a light, I hear over the 2-way, " show us some smoke". So I drop the clutch in 3rd and proceeded to do a left hand turn drift from a stand still and proceeded to run up to 60 smoking a way. then I hear "a cop just flew though a red light and coming your way! " Typical roads anywhere in Minnesota, you can't run, no were to go. So I got on the highway and did 55mph right lane waiting for the cop. got pulled over. exact words "Sorry officer, I was just being stupid". Few minutes later he comes back, thanks me for my honesty and tells me he didn't see my do anything, just heard a loud noise in that direction and let me off with a warning.

Its a shame race tracks are getting fewer and further in between. I mean theres no where around here in my area (Long Beach, Ca. ) to go drag race anymore. Im sure its getting like that across the country.



Where I live we used to be able to walk a couple blocks and look down at the ol Lyons Drag Strip when it was going strong on weekends. Now thats long gone. OCIR is gone, Terminal Island Raceway is gone. . now you need to drive clear out to the desert to dragrace.



Its no wonder people are trying to find places to street race. Not saying its right, just saying people need a practical place to go to "run what they brung & tow what they blow".

Not sure, but after 3 years it will be gone. I've gone 13 years with no traffic violations. I think I can do it again.

I got caught once. When I first got my truck I was working at a local dairy and one of my co workers (hard core chevy fan) said lets race. In my old gas truck I would have said no, but there was something about having a diesel that made me cocky, confident, and a better person (ok maybe that last part was just my opinion :-laf ) So we line up on this booney one horse town road and let loose. Long story short I'm three truck lengths ahead of his "mighty 350" and began to slow down as I see head light in the distance. The head lights turned out to be a highway patrolman coming home from work. 45 over in a 55, reckless driving. Looked really bad.

But in the end the dairy I worked at was owned by the local judge who was also like a second father to me. He gave the cop a "boys will be boys talk" pretended to punish us, and as soon as the cop left we all started laughing.

Had a 95 6 speed z28 convertible(just sold it this summer with 17,000 miles on it) several years back. Well nice night top down wife and I driving. Decided to be stupid and just hammer it. Well I was about 2300 or so in 6th if I recall, about 90-95MPH(in a 45). Cop blows by other way and accross the median, I change lanes slow down and proceed. He goes flying past us and gets behind some other car with his lights on. I just kept driving as he was approaching the other car. Drove the speed limit the reat of the night.
