Cbrabec, What happened with the muffler/cat issue on the ticket?

In 2 weeks we will find out if Lincoln is going to get a new Dragstrip!!!!!! More than 250 people showed up at the committee meeting. As I understand it was about 2 to 1 for the track. It is looking better than I thought.

Ok, I had my truck one week before i decided to do a little upgrade. I bought a used tst comp and didnt have it on for 45 min before i got a ticket doing 90 in a 55 comming out of town. If the state boy would have been a 1/4 mile closer he would have got me in a 35 mph zone.

Well today I had some young punk kids in their mustang 5. 0 yelling at me to race. I had no problem with that so when the light turned green off we went. I smoked him, the kid never had a chance. All of a sudden, I see him in my review mirror turn off quickly into a neighborhood. First thought was, he's ashamed for getting his a** handed to him, but then I noticed the old red and blue flashing in my mirror. I pulled over and the cop asked me for my license and regerstration. Bout 10 minuets later, he came back with with a reckless driving and loud exhaust offenses. My stacks are not that loud, they have an MBRP muffler w/ internal mufflers inside the stacks. Anyway, the cop asks why I don't have a cat w/ my exhaust and I told him my truck didn't come with one. He said all vehicles have them, and I told him he was wrong. Didn't want to get into a pi**ing match with the guy so I said whatever. Now I have to go to court in a month. This is my first ticket. My insurance agent and wife won't be happy, but my truck sure made me proud.

LOL!!!!!!! This morning, I read about your unfortunate encounter. So, later tonight, I pulled the white truck out from the barn and drove over to the interstate to give ernie a nice warm up. I accessed the I-5 on ramp and performed my usual richual accelerating up to about 120 then heavy braking as I merge. Within a few seconds later, an un-marked state trooper was showing me his lights. . I quickly pulled my vehicle over and shut the truck off, the NICE Officer approached my passenger door, opened it, then said

"it was illegal to have your vehicle excessively smoke" I replied that I might have a pump problem. Then, he says “ I think I have you at 87 as you got on the hwy but didn't have a clear vision of the truck do to your pump problem” I immediatley suggested that my truck should go back to the feed barn and be parked, he smiled, I thanked him. He never once asked me for my License.

I’m going to be purchasing some WSP ball party tickets this year……

now that's funny! I wonder if he was trying to get you with the laser thing and the smoke distorted the beam.

Damn, fletcher. He let your off???? That must be a first for WSP. I have never been that luck with them...

Most times, I am guilty but I think somes times they are a little over zelous about giving tickets.

I do know of an area that is pure speed trap. Needless to say, my job has taken me one state south and glad of it.

..

Here in the Sacramento area, even if you have aftermarket gauges or chrome exhaust tip the police and CHP WILL pull you over; diesel truck, ricer, any type of vehicle. The new law passed says if the vehicle APPEARS to have aftermarket "speed" accesories on it they have a right to pull you over and give you a fixit ticket. Now if you get caught racing on the streets kiss your ***** goodbye. . license is revoked, car is taken away for good, and you will do jail time if there's an accident involved with the direct result from the street race {first time offenders, doesn't matter}and I support this law fully. It's just not worth it, keep it at the tracks guys, don't be stupid and ruin it for everyone else. . seriously  :(

I was shocked to see them on the track during my I-5 test and Tune.

The Law clearly states "AGRICULTURE VEHICLES MUST UTILIZE INTERSTATES

FOR PERFORMANCE TUNING"

Either too much smoke or Fletcher grabbed a horse shoe from that barn on the way out and had it stuck somewhere. :) I agree Fletcher, if there's not a 1/4 mile track then you're supposed to use the on ramps for testing purposes right?

So it's against the law to modify any aspect of your vehicle? What's next? I changed the drapes in my HOUSE from what the original builder installed and i'll get taken to court by my neighbors?

This is a case of going to to far. Sure, take the vehicle away for racing. fine. But not hassel me for a fuel pressure gauge or some crap.

Honestly, what's the difference between a modified truck that can run 11's and a Z06 Vette running 11's factory? The end result is they "CAN" break the law, but will they?

This is just one step closer to Cali mandating everyone drive a prius or something for every task and no one can drive what they want.

...

Jason, I think your imagination has run wild from the stereotypes you hear about California. I agree the gauge issue is rediculous. . but they will never tell people they have to drive a Prius. . c'mon man lol  I do support strong penalties for street racing weather you're in a diesel or a Z06... that is what the track is for.

you see how this opens the door for stuff like my prius comment? We'll forgot about this change, get used to it and next thing you know.....

Todd, they dropped those charges. The judge laughed when he saw that written on the ticket. Guess he must own a dodge :-laf

Just a little tip, When you pay ticket pay with money order for $3. 00 more then charge and when they send you the check for over par tear it up throw away... They then can't close file and will not post on driving record til file is closed... loop hole :)

Yea My son and I had a long standing debate as to which was quicker, my 75 c-10 454 or my 03 cummins stocker 6 speed row boat...

We went out on a long piece of country road one sunday and lined them up and zipped off a little less than a quater mile... it was about even with the cummins pulling close to 3000 in od and the son was just getting wound up in 3rd... . so when we get to the end to turn around, a guy pulls up from off a side road where he lives and he's a state trooper... . :{

He snags both our lisences, registrations, insurance cards etc. and starts at us...

He says he watched us race, and that he could get us for upteen hundred violations... .

about 30 minutes later after grilling us a little he gives us back our stuff, spanks our hands and sends us on our way... .

could have been a bad day in court!!

I would go and record a harley blaring down the road and then your truck. Present both recordings as evidence and ask the nice policeman to tell you which one is yours. and define the test he prescribed to ascertained you're too loud.

FWIW: There is no field test for exhaust systems. However you have altered the OE system and are by default guilty in the laws eyes of most states.

Just plea it down to a non-moving and move on!

Last year we lost another one... R. I. P. Carlsbad International Raceway. In San Diego County, there has been such a problem with street racing it has become illegal to be a spectator or to just drive through the industrial park areas at night time that were known for racing. They do have racing at in the parking lot of the Charger's football stadium: www.racelegal.com
