2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission Got my new headlights!

Now I'm waiting for the harness. I ordered it from Daniel Stern. It will be well made with good relays and heavy duty ceramic connectors and heavy gauge wire. It shouldn't be hard to connect once I get it I hope. So when I get it all in, I'll post more pics. Really excited to have it on.

I was thinking about these for my truck. The '02 is mostly wired for the sport headlights so why not use the factory harness? The second high beam lamp is driven off the high beam indicator lamp with a relay. That way the DRL still works up here in Canada.

Do you have any contact info on where you got your harness? Just picked up a nice set of oem sports out of an 02. For being 10 yrs old, theyre in very good shape, and for 45 bucks I couldnt pass em up. Thanks for the info.

I sent an e-mail with my questions to Daniel Stern. If you go to their site (Daniel Stern Lighting) there is "click here to send e-mail". So that's how I did it. I think it's around $165. I also ordered his Daytime Running Light module to have daytime running lights. It uses the corner lights for that. I like that idea. I should receive it in about 2 weeks.

I built my harness. I had a super parts guy at the time. All oem connectors and terminals along with relays

Real glass, he he he... The days of those are long gone. The late 80's and early 90's I think was the last glass headlight lenses made. I think they are called polycarbonate lenses now. That's why they can become foggy/cloudy/yellow, or just plainly terrible looking. I am looking for a product to preserve the lenses from yellowing/fogging as I park outside all the time-work truck. If I can I want to avoid using the clear plastic protectors I now have.

I think that up to 96, as mine is, you needed to trim but after that it should have the cut outs.

Ilianbg,when my '98. 5 was new I installed a 3M clear film on the headlights. These were a custom cut product. You had to heat it up with a hair dryer,wet it and you had one chance to squeegee the water out of it. i pulled it off,and my headlights looked like new when I sold the truck in 2007.

Yes, I know that product. I have it on mine- from Genos. They don't carry it any more. But I talked to them and it was the X-pel product. I have it on mine since new- almost 10 yrs on the headlights. I've noticed that it's not as clear as it was few years ago, but still pretty new looking front of headlight. That being said, I did notice that with time the brightness of the lights went down, and after research it is normal for this film (from 3M) to become more restrictive to the light. It subtracts ~15% of the light output and then degrades from there.
There is another product - Lamin X, it's thinner than the X-pel and it's a lot easier to apply on curved headlights.
Another thing that a lot of people online report very good results against yellowing/fogging is regular/monthly treatment with 303 Aerospace Protectant. Does anyone use it for this purpose here.
By the way I just got the harness for the lights and I will install them in the next few days. I really hope to have the time to do it sooner.

Since we're on the topic of replacement headlights, has anyone had any experience with a company called "Pro Tuning Lab". They sell both projector and Euro style replacement units.

Along the line of replacements... ... anybody familiar with the the Sport replacement lights offered by Autoanything.com? Found them this morning for $105 each, with bulbs, made by Replacement.

I really need to replace my OEMs!

I was just looking through Genos catalog and apparantly they sell a wiring harness for the sport light conversion. Anybody ever buy one? Im surprised nobodys mentioned them in the quest for harnesses for these conversions. They list for 150 bucks.

Yes, about $430 for both. There is no compromise on safety for me. My family will be with me, I'll drive at night, I don't want to think about it. I want the best. It might take me a bit longer to get, but I'll get it. So, I can install those now? Thanks Bob. I am also getting a module to have a daytime running lights- using the turn signals. I like that idea too.

you should have purchased off road lights or hid light that mount on something..... they make it really bright... if your looking for safety... . at that price, you could for sure get halogen off road lights, but not HID

Finally got my lights installed- I didn't have time until now (too busy at work). Everything went really smooth. I had to loosen and wiggle with the bumper to fit the lights. The lights are perfect fit, the corner lights actually fits a lot more precise then my old OEM one. These have an upper and lower spring clips and once they go in their slots, it does not really move anywhere, looks like you don't need the bottom screw to secure it- it's that tight.

Anyway, lights and new bulbs combo (recommended by Daniel Stern) work amazing! I never thought driving in the dark will be that good.

Thank you guys for recommending this upgrade. I'm really happy it's finally done.
