yeh tomey, I thought you were going to go with the DDBB turbo

i was VERY close to going with it... money in hand. .

Then found out it was non-wastegated, and decided to not be the first that runs one with the TST box...

once the dust settles, I might re-look at it with an external WG

Do any of you fine "oil-head, turbos swappin', soot belchers" know of a list(or be willing to make one for us recently converted gassers) that would rate the various turbos by boost, size, lagginess, durability etc. Just curious to the relative effectiveness of the various turbos. Oh yeah and could you include which turbos pair well or does a guy just need to buy a complete package? :D

I think there is a list like that floating around somwhere, maybe a link on this site, or maybe it was on another site. It had flow rates on it, and maybe boost levels too. Do some searching if no one else replies... ...

Tomeygun- Are you going to do a swap to an ATS manifold at the same time? Despite all the good advice, I didn't thinking that I would never "need" one. Well 2 months later I changed my mind and had to pull everything off again!

Looking at those numbers has me wanting the Jammer BB even more.

I hope they figure out whats wrong.

Just like RMalone posted. . it would be great if the more experienced would post

how those part numbers perform for spool, towing, cooling etc. so us newbies can learn from them. We all know bigger flows more air at higher R's but if you tow at 1800, have some boxes and use it for a daily driver will a KSB1 fit the bill or one of the others?

Tommy, is that the down pipe they sent with the turbo?????

Heck no, Its the one that Mike sent with the purchase of the used SP 66

Its a sound piece, no leaks, so its all good for me - I might clean up the welds, but really its no biggy

JStieger - I thought about an ATS manifold, BUT MArk at TST hooked up 6 psi gauges, one to each exhaust outlet... would you believe they were all within like 1 psi of eachother (cylinder #4 and #5 were 1 psi higher than the others, if my memory serves me) -So I will hold off on the manifold for now, I'm just not sure of the benefit yet (and the pocketbook is still suffering from the SP66)

Yep, that's one of the charts. I believe there is another one floating around with more of the aftmkt turbos on it, and the chart is sort of similar to the one they had in the mag this month about fueling boxes. Just thinking out loud... .....

I'd love to see where these HTT turbos stack against the others... .

Whens it going on Tommy?

Well if I can talk my mother into a fun day of "diesel turbo 101" :-laf

Then it will be sunday, But I doubt it

I might try to work on it tonight and then somehow get to work, then finish on friday night

One things for sure, I am chomping at the bit to get the huffer on... .

Little setback tonight

Went to yank off the stocker, and thought I better check and make sure I have ALL the parts needed

Well, I still need the oil feed line fitting, and the flange bolts, and who knows what else, I am called bright and early tomorrow and just having them (HTT) send the WHOLE INSTALL PACKAGE (bolts, washers, do-hickys, thinga-jiggers)... If it is not factory and I need it, It better be in the UPS box!

Darn it, I was all geared up to stay up to whatever hour it took to get this charger spinn'in, But alas, it will have to wait till early next week

Arg!

You may want to have some 3" hose and clamps on hand. Also a mig welder and some 3" exhaust pipe fittings for the compressor outlet. The outlet will be up on the htb2 so you will have to fab a pipe. This is not hard if you have what you need. The elbo is 3" for the htb2 and 2-3/4" for the stocker. #ad

On mine I just reused the stock intercooler hose as I didn't have the means to fab a new pipe. It was a bit of a stretch though! Since I reused the stock pipe, I also had to rotate the intercooler pipe about 180*and grind some clearance on some metal brackets on the corner of the battery tray.

Just in case for future use I bought some silicone hose and had the supplier custom make one end 3" and the other 2. 75" (intercooler pipe end). It was only about $15-20 to have this custom piece made. Lastly as an addition to wcounts recommendations, if you do use new silicone hose, double-check on the clamp size as the high-pressure rated hose is pretty thick walled. Don't ask me how I know this after I had everything apart... (the 3" clamps I bought were a hair too small)
