well, my first post, but i've lurked and learned for quite a while. I've never had anything to contribute, but here's a doosey and maybe someone can benefit from my stupidity. i've had this truck for about 3 months and decided to call tst and get a #8 (try and get as much life out of the trans as poss). I've installed plates before so no big deal but i did notice the gov lever did not hit either the stock plate or the #8. (yes, fuel shut off was in the up position-- see, i lurked and learned ). Ok, so i go to the pdr technical and get the directions for adjustment. I'm pretty good mechanically but being naturally lazy, i fiqure i don't need to remove the fuel filter for the adjustment process and i make a screwdriver to fit in the pump but not so long as to hit the fuel filter (its just a 3" power driver bit ground down some, and its all metal). well its all going good, i take the 10mm deep socket, loosen the nut, then take my custom screwdriver and feel my way in the slot, start start turning and the bit falls out of my fingers and into the f83241juewqmjvf pump!!! OK--take a deep breath---I stare at the situation and remove what i hope is a drain plug in the bottom of the pump. yea--it is. i remove the fuel plate, take a suction gun and remove remaining oil. take flexible magnate probe and start pobing. Luckily, after about 10 minutes of careful probing i came up with the metal bit (lucky it was metal), finished adjusting the lever, installed plate(well, visa/versa) and all was well. I,m now 10 years older, but for all you diy's, objects can be retrived from the pump.
sorry bout the long post and i truly could not have done any of this with out the expert guidance from this site.
thanks guys
