When I first took the torque plate out and peered down into the pump and saw the spring packs it was a bit intimidating. I almost said screw this. #ad

I agree getting an accurate measurement from the top of the governor stud to the spring adjusting nut can be tricky. I had to take about 5 measurements each time to feel comfortable with the clearence. I think I had about . 055.

I had to much pre-load on the spring packs , so I had a very touchy throttle off idle. Backed off the adjusting nuts about 2 clicks this morning. About . 035. Seems better. Have not test driven it yet.

Anyone else's idle speed drop after installing the kit? With overtightened adjusters my idle dropped 200 rpm. Then about 300 rpms with the spring packs loosened.

Did anyone find a shim under the BIG spring that stays in? I had one under each BIG spring. Was not sure whether to leave them or take them out, so I took them out. Directions said to "leave large spring in place" meaning not to look under it for a shim?. I had 3 shims under the medium spring.

With the governor springs at the stock height, my idle was almost or exactly the same. When I loosened the springs one click I lost about 200 rpm. I didn't look under the big spring because of the directions, so whatever was under there in the beginning is still there.

I think that one is for idle or something, but I called BD about this and they said to leave it. The only shims should be in the spring seats themselves, and you do remove those. #ad

You guys are right. I should have left the shim under the BIG idle spring that stays. Will go back into the pump this weekend and correct.
