grease fitting?

where is the grease fitting on my drive shaft,on a 05 4/4 one ton. going to do my own oil changes and lubs,i dont thank it has been done wright at the rip off shop. thank you gary

They are a needle type fitting that looks like a hole on the end caps. I just had my front driveshaft rebuilt and the shop put those style joints in the cv joint. There is a pretty good picture on this forum if you still can't find it.

search there is a really good tread and pics with arrows of how to see/find it. i never did grease it. it was still tight at 106K mile when i had it rebuilt for $160 all joints and balanced, and ball in the center.
Did about 500 miles in 4wd plus pulling bobcats, machines out of holes/ditches and trees out of ground as well.

In 06 I bought a new Ram 2500 Q-Cab, 4x4 and sold it 3 1/2 years (And 72,000 miles) later, and I'm still not sure that lube spot ever got any grease in it.

This includes me totally giving up on two local dealers. (Neither one of them new their ***** from page two about it, even after I showed them the sticker under the hood! One of them even told me "Some of these trucks have them some don't. Yours don't). I then ended up buying my own needle point, finding the lube spot and going through the contortions of different "plug-in" angles and globs of dripping grease in trying to do it myself. IMO? A real PIA. Thanks DC!

I just finished reading some of these older links/threads here and there is a lot of good info. in them.

I would suggest you use all their tips and then be ready for a little frustration.

i go thru a little frustration every time trying to find it. if you have a buddy that you trust with your life, then you can get under the truck with it resting on a SLIGHT incline and have him release the ebrake and put the truck in neutral and go forward about 6 inches at a time until the grease spot is where you can see it. there is a great pic on here somewhere of the grease fitting. i actually printed it off and took the pic under the truck with me the first time. also, the napa store cariies two different sizes of grease needles, you need the smaller one. I have bent and broken 3 of the larger ones trying to get them to work. it won't happen.

I lift the front tire drivers side about 1 inch off floor. Put feet to passenger side. Use a trouble lite and turn the wheel slow as you look for the fitting. After you find it, paint it so next time it will show right up. After all these years the shop in my town still tell me I don't have one. If I don't I wonder what I have been lubing all the years??

I can only see mine from the drivers side of the shaft. Looking to the rear of the truck from forward of the skid plate (if you have one) it looks like a silver concave spot about the size of a pencil eraser.

I took some of the wife's nail polish and marked a line leading up to the spot. I have to do it every time due to corrosion up here. Once in a while I get a strange look from a buddy as he goes into my tool box to get something and finds it in there.
