To go along with the Great Smoke Stories! thread, I would love to see "Great Race Stories!". Same idea as the other thread, post stories of races you have with random people on the road.

--------

On my way to Chicago last weekend. About half way down h the I90 toll way. The outline of the chicago skyline just starting to emerge in the smoggy sky. Traffic is doing about 80-90mph. 6 lanes wide. about 12:00pm. Typical traffic for a Sunday I suppose.

Out of no where here comes this Blue accord ricer. Clean looking car. It looks to be built "right" for the street as far as a ricer can be. No stupid wings, not lowed so far with such a suspention that it's bounceing all over the place. Well done. So I give this guy some upfront respect.

Switch the Edge from 1 to 5. Turn back downs off. Check. roll into the throttle proceed to just follow this guy in traffic. You can see the guy looking in his mirrors. Big truck matching move for move. after about 3 miles of 75mph -> 100mph. I get a chance to go WOT. I was 3 cars back. from 70mph I opened the Cummin's up, pass the kid, and pull on him about 10 cars by the time I hit 105mph. back off. Ricer fly by. This happened about a dozen times. just running though traffic. Boy is that a rush. Fun too :)

Just as I desided to call it quits, I see some coal roll from a duramax. I say to the GF, hey! a real challenge! :) Let me tell you, I was only just putzing though traffic to beat up this ricer, He thought he was out driving me a few times I'm sure. The ricers was 100 yards infront of me, the drumax was about 1/4 mile-ish. I found some lines I don't think the ricer would of taken, passed the guy hard and fast. catch up to the duramax slow down to 70mph. No reaction! they guy was blowing more smoke them I could and he didn't wanna run. !.

30 seconds later, here comes the ricer, finally, so I just blow by him again. Slow down, look around. ohh crap, where did chicago go, look behind, wooops, gota turn around :). Check guages, just about 1/4 tank of fuel burnt up.

I've only raced my truck one time. It was against an '05 F350 dually. It was brand new and looked nice! Well, I passed him in traffic and I guess he saw and heard my little stack. We both got stopped at a red light shortly after. I had two buddies with me. This guy had his two young sons in his $55k truck. My $13k truck is nothing like his but it still looks nice. I looked at him and he smiled and starting rocking his truck with the go pedal. The light turned green and I released the clutch in 2nd. I was granny shifting my 6 spd at about 2500 rpm or less and I'm sure he was full throttle on his auto. I have never taken my truck past 2600 rpms by the way. After a short 1/4 mile run, I had him by 2 truck lengths. A real driver would have had a much bigger lead than I had.

He ended up on my tail and flashing his lights at me. So, I pulled over in a neighborhood and was curious to what he wanted. He asked me about my truck and said he had a few CTD's in the past. He then proceeded to power brake it and barely turn the tires. It was pretty funny. That auto seemed to suck. Hopefully I'll have some more stories when I get my Comp.

A couple of years ago I was on Hwy 35 southeast to Richmond, IN from Muncie. I manged to catch up to a Mercury Marauder (remember these muscle cars? ) and it was occupied three times with male 30 somethings. The car had paper tags and the guy driving was slowing to 45 MPH and then gunning it up to 70 or so. He and his friends were all high-fiving each other perhaps over the car's power to accelerate. It was driving me nuts! I just wanted to maintain 65. Of course, we were on a stretch that seemed to take forever to get the passing stripes, so when the passing zone came I waited for him to slow to 45 and punch it, as I proceeded to pass him! Oo. I made sure to shift in to overdrive right by his window at about 70, :D

It was hilarious, I didn't see them high-fiving each other then, matter of fact he stayed in it to try to pass me again, but got denied! :-laf

Two stories-one is before my CTD days.

When I was about 20, I had a sweet '68 Cougar GT (390/C6). It was pretty quick. I started messing with a guy in a 911 Turbo. It was about midnight and me and my gf where calling it a night. At each light, I'd get the jump on him and then he'd blow my doors off. After about 4 of these episodes, he'd had enough of my immaturity and off he went. I don't know how fast he was going, but a few minutes later I caught him. He had gotten himself pulled over by the Lakewood police. I rolled by, hoping he wouldn't rat on me. It was funny.

One time I raced another CTD nut. He has a '04, 555/6spd/3. 73. We raced on I-70 east bound from Idaho Springs up Floyd Hill. I had to wait for him for a few minutes at the top! Just kidding KBennett!

True story from Highway 1 near Malibu: I'm in my 10 year old truck with a old tool box in the bed, some misc. 2X lumber and lots of crap rolling around back there too. I stop at a red light at Sunset, I'm in the right hand driving lane and a brand new Black Ford 1/2 ton gasser (Loud--Flowmasters?) pulls up next to me in the turn lane, except I can see he wants to go straight which means he will have to beat me across the intersection and get ahead of me before his lane closes about 100 yards ahead. He gives me a sick smile, as if he was saying, "Gee buddy, hate to do this to ya... but I'm gonna beat yer butt anyway!" I grinned and set my Controller to shift locked, OD off. The light changes. We take off at the same time, but I immediately pull ahead of him, and shifting locked, jump ahead on every gear change. I beat him BAD before he gives up and has to pull in behind me! Feeling pretty good now, I am cruising on up Highway 1, and take the turn at Pepperdine to go inland. As I turn I see a red Ferrari is headed the opposite direction on Highway 1, and is going to turn in behind me. The road narrows to a single driving lane in each direction about 200 yards ahead, and then there are lots of curves and hills and no-passing zones and a tunnel, and I want to LEAD the way with the Ferrari behind me! So as soon as I turn I stomp it and I get about 100 yards away from the intersection when I hear what sounds like a B-1 bomber taking off behind me, and man alive that Ferrari blew by me about 2 seconds after he completed the turn! He roared past me and just disappeared into the curves--I was driving fast trying to catch up with him and I never even saw a taillight after he passed me! :-laf

I've got another one. I was cruising home tonight about 10pm. I first heard a very annoying turbo whine. Then, I noticed what was almost making me roll the windows up... F250 6. 0. I work extra hard to put my stack right in his rolled up window and give him a little bark. That's just to let him know I wanted to play. I moved ahead and a short while later I see his lights coming up. I was cruising about 70 in 6th gear so I was spooled up. He was about 3 car lengths back when I heard him drop the hammer. He probably dropped 2 gears in his auto and I just pressed into what I had in 6th. I took off immediately and burned him. He got caught behind a car but worked his way back up. This time I was doing 60 in 6th so I was a little off boost. He came back up and heard him drop it again. I pressed into my low boost and we were pretty much even until my whistler got spinning and I took off. His truck was pretty quick but I got him by a few lengths. I hope to be able to contribute to the "Great Smoke Stories" thread in a few weeks. Oh yeah, I didn't use WOT while doing this.

A couple of weeks ago I was sitting at a light about 3am. This little ricer with no turbo come up next to me and wants to play. Light turned green and I gave it some to let him think for a second that he might have me. I was just waiting for the turbo to wake up. Turbo hit 15 and WOT. To bad the waste gate isn't vented out the side :D

Hmmm, but you can't stay with me when were trailering :-laf

Great stories guys!

Would of been embarissing for the BMW 740....

Got my self lost after playing with another car down i-95, I missed my exit for 55 south. No biggies, swing a U-turn on the next exit, remember that I94 west don't connect with 55 south. grrr. so I pop off and cruise in the city to find my way back home (still confused about these side streets here). Find my self on lyndale and deside to take that to the end, make a left, pop on 35w and on my way to 62 and home.

Well, Just as I get on lyndale, 4 kids in daddy's BMW 740. I don't see an M or anything that would suggest the V12 motor. Best bet, it's the V8. $80,000 BMW mind you folks. This car is a 14. 5 - 15. 0 1/4 car.

So I'm playing with the throttle, making noise next to the kids, they go, I go catch up. Speed limit is 30 here. We are not going above that. after a few juggling passes. at the next light we take off together, 2nd hard, I get on 3rd gear WOT SMOKE, and tire noise on a roll. 32mph reaches, back out, One truck ahead.

All of a sudden, bad *** kids don't wanna play. ahhhh shucks! :)

The Fat Kid

Andy

Torque Monster Tweaker... ... ... ... ... ... . lol, I want to start this race, pm me with a place. :-laf Got to have people there so stories don't get confussed. Right Jason? ;)

Sure lets do it!

First, lemme varify my butt dyno with that other thread (backdown theory). and get some time to do some 0-60 runs and see if in fact that turbo does get that hot where I'm working againsed my self.

Maybe I should of made even more power on the dyno but I was pulling a SpicyJam with the hot turbo. I dunno.

I'm game for many 20mph roll runs or 2x4 0-whatever runs. And maybe one 4x4 launch run. That clutch is slipping and I need to make it last 2 maybe 3 months. :)

Hmmmm... Well, I ordered my Muffler delete from DPP this morning, PMed Josh asking details as to some help with getting it together next week some time. This should clean up my ricer-ish sounding exhaust with proper mounts, and clean piping. We can do it then.

A wile back before my transmission went I was going down an nice farm road were I live and there was a new Dodge Neon SRT-4 (the turbo one) behind me and I could tell he was going to want to pass since he was coming on to me fast. There wasn. t anyone coming so I got the up to 60 so that the TC was locked and then proceded to accelerate slowly. As he swung around to pass I put it on the floor and smoke poured. The guy was on it and couldn't pass untill I heard him punch it then he just moved away. I got up to about 80 in a 45 zone.

Rock on! :) I give you credit for the idea of "Great * Stories!" :)

93' XJ vs SVT Focus

This isn't diesel related, but I thought it was rather funny.

Years ago, prior to even my Hesco stroker kit in my old 93' XJ, I had some mods and some axel changes that made that little thing rather quick. One thing I had was a nice dual exhaust setup that was rather loud.

I was leaving my EX GF's place. Some what farm country area. Paved roads tho! :) I notice this little black SVT focus behind me. He had his GF with him aswell. So I rev up my motor a touch. They both LAUGH AT ME!. So I do it again. they LAUGH again!!! Little don't they know, they haven't a clue. :) light turns green, I make a right turn, they follow, as soon as I get straight, WOT, grab 2nd, WOT, 3rd, 4th... .

I put like 5 cars on this "SVT"... .

Get in the left and turn lane at the next light, they are going straight. Kid looked rather upset. I roll down my window. I asked "what happeded speedy? Can't you beat a jeep?". I got a "look" and that was it. :)
