It's Friday again.

I looked at the FAQ first and did not find answers, so here goes.

Quick recap for you to understand what I've been working on the last couple weeks. 192,800 mileage.

Started with some preventive maintenance before things broke. Figured I needed to replace the injectors.

Not going to list the problems here, just do it.

Replaced the injectors w/RV275's Good choice! woke-up the engine.

Then oil pressure sending unit acts up, replace it. all Ok. (see later below, Please)

Then a week later the VP-44 corked. Replace it.

Then I thought I would get-rid of the Holly Blue fuel pump that is down on the frame rail to peotect my new VP-44.

I lost confidence after having them fail each year for the last 4 years.

I bought and installed a FASS DDRP down on the frame rail. This is when things go haywire Yesterday.

My Westach fuel gauge starts bouncing up to 30psi. I call Geno's Garage and Scott was very nice and suggested I check the shredder valve to see if the needle valve was in there. I could not remember if I had removed it many years ago. So I try to remove the snubber hose and the brass fitting is not turning well as I remove it. No needle valve present. Wonderful. However I now can not install the hose again as the brass fitting would not turn. Dam!

Wasted all afternoon yesterday running to parts house trying to locate a new hose to no avail. Typical, they never saw one like this before.

This morning I call Scott again and he offers me a new hose but I decline as I now want a hose that is longer (36"). I also wanted to get my truck running and not sit all weekend. Scott also suggests I install a test fuel gauge. Sounds good to me. :-laf

I have always read about a test gauge but where do you get one in Denver? Hit the road to the local big rig shops and ask questions. Finely after 3hrs I locate THE Best Hose and Fitting store that some how I just knew was in town but didn't now where.

McCoy Sales Corp. also goes by Parker Store www.mccoysales.com Steve fixed me up with a fuel test gauge 0-60psi for ~$14. 00 and made a new hose 36" long with nice push-on brass fittings.

Install the hose and gauge. Pressure is good @ 19psi at idle. Call Scott again, I have a bad Westachfuel sending unit. I now have a new Westack fuel sending unit on the way.

Now I don't have Vacuum for the HVAC unit. Checked blend door, not broken, OK. Also, no vacuum for the exhaust brake. Checked fuses. Checked hoses from Vac pump to the Y fitting at cowling. Ok. Vac pump looks good, no leaks. Rebuilt that several years ago fo seals leaking. Checked vac hose out top. Ok.

Also this afternoon on a drive the Check Gauges light comes on and off several times as the oil Gauge drops to Zero and the rebounds. What the hell???? No codes!!

Oil level is ok. Checked wiring connection, tight.

You folks have any thoughts? Need to get the vacuum working.

Hope this was good reading.

Thanks, Tom

I don't know about the vacuum & other stuff but your oil pressure sender has failed. Classic symptoms.

Thanks for the reply.

That oil sender is only a month old. But things due fail sooner or later.

I have had old vacuum lines appear good, but collapse when a vacuum was induced on the line in the past. You might want to replace them if they are 'old' and have years of use. Also it isn't clear in the post whether you were getting vacuum at the hose coming off the pump? But if not, it could be either a poor connection lead to the pump(possibly the fuse) or the pump itself has died and needs rebuilt or replaced.

My vacuum line had rubbed out and a hole in the line was created down by the VP-44, so look for a leak or a hole in the line somewhere...

Please see my other posts around here as it's been found that the vac pump guts broke and took a swim into the oil system destroying my turbo for starters.

Multiple, simultanous failerls of unrelated problemsare usually failures of a single ground connection. Think about it. Since mutiple independent, unrelated failures are extremelilya rare, the problem is likely the same cause for all problems.

I would have to agree with above post. Several years back I was a mechanic at a small shop in a small West TX town. Seen this kind of problem alot loose ground wires. Hope this helps.
