lockout hubs

this has been a major question ever since I found out my front end is always in motion. Chevy and Ford have them why not Dodge? $2000 is woth the cost considering wear and tear on your entire front drive train over 100,00 miles count me in if and when it happens.

ok go to dynatrac and tell them you have at least 20 people interested in they will keep there price down. If we all go in it together maybe we can get a better deal.

Update!

Ok, here is the latest. They are interested. They need a truck to look at initially to see if it warrants further investigation.

If there is anyone near the Huntington Beach, CA. area that would be interested in letting them have an initial look, please pm me so we can get it scheduled/organized. I expect if the initial look is a go, then we may need a longer term gunia pig for them to take measurments from, fitting etc.

I'm expecting if the initial look is succesful this may work really well as far as availability (date) and price are concerned. They said they had a kit for the older versions, but then Dodge/Dana changed the knuckles. He's hopeful the new axles are designed similiar to the old style & that the kits they have/tooling for etc. will be useable to some extent.

Will wait for pm.

Are you kidding? If you tell them there are 20 people interested they will probably RAISE the price. Nobody on Earth is more expensive than Dynatrac.

Think about it man. Look how many people just on this site jumped at this idea. i have talked to at least 10 people who arent of tdr and they where really interested. Think about this, if dynatrac did this in a magazine like four wheeler, i'd bet that number would jump BIG TIME. I have an idea id have to ask this guy though. He owns a shop and has been in four wheeler MANY times and he has a 2500 ram lifted about 8 inches i bet he'd be interested...

People jumped on it on the board, that's easy. In practice I bet only a couple would actually really buy it. It would end up costing so much it would make replacement sealed bearing hubs look like nothing.

I would think they could use something common like an F250 4x4 TTB hub/rotor/caliper/axleshaft setup and machine a spindle from scratch to bolt it all on the AAM knuckle (I haven't seen the AAM knuckle to know if anything will reasonably even bolt to it). Maybe they could even reuse the stock Dodge rotor/caliper setup with a custom bracket.

This being the case you don't need the most expensive axle builder on the planet "engineering" this. A creative machinist can handle this spindle. Who knows, I could contract a machinist to make the spindle and sell them for buku $?

Count me in. I'm willing to bet that disengaing the front end will eliminate the drivetrain "VIBRATION" many of us are cursed with. Truth is that DC should foot the bill but out of frustration I would cough up the bucks to fix this.

Update!

We now have a member who will be scheduling a visit to Dynatrac to see if our American knuckles are of a design they can work with to put together a replacement hub.

This has just happened, so no notice yet as to when this will take place. I expect that if the initial look is positive that there will be a follow up "detailed" inspection that will take more time for disassembly, measurment, etc.

No info on cost, don't even know if it will be feasible at this stage. I'm sure a lot of people will be interested at what I think is a reasonable price. I'm just as sure that a lot will not. If a stock non-rebuildable/non-lockable hub set costs something like $800 then you can probably easily double that. The kit will likely require a replacement outter axle..... ???? I will be happy if we get 20 or so people that are a go. That may be optimistic based on 65 or so replies, but I think that would interest Dynatrac.
