Torque value on the retaining bolts is 30 Ft Lbs + an additional 60 degrees according to Fluidampr.



What does " an additional 60 degees" mean?

Like head studs, to get an accurate torque value that is not thrown off my thread friction, torque the bolts to 30 first, then go back and twist them an additional 60 degrees (use a protractor to get somewhat an accurate measurement). Figure 60 degrees is 1/6 of a full turn.



If the bolt breaks , you went too far.



If the balancer falls off on the freeway, you didn't go far enough.

My Service manual says 92 Ft Lbs and so does the Dowel Pin Fix instructions @ TST.



I think I'll go with that.

I used the factory torque settings for my "fluidampr".



In Horschel's directions it even says to use the factory torque settings for the bolts.

But they added a supplement to help Diesel owners since they probably figured we didn't know what to torque these things to.



I used 165NM.

Yes, cut it back by about 50-60%.

Are most of you finding that you don't need to remove the fan and shroud?

I didnt have to remove the fan.

But on my 04. 5 I did remove some nuts from the fan shroud so I could get my hands up there.

Problems w/ a Fluidampr on a '94

Got Fluidampr P/N 960311



I have a 175 HP truck. I have the "big" 215 HP Damper to start with.



I moved the engine speed sensor to its max travel away from the damper, but it still needs to go another ¼"+.



Can I get a shorter sensor, or did I do something wrong?



Second picture is the pickup set @ . 050 on the 9-3/8" OEM damper.

Thinking of getting one for my 160 hp 92 but the oem is about 8 1/2" diameter. I would have the same problem as you HEMI DART.

Looks like I will run into the same problem.

And mine is the 8 1/4" factory damper.

Hope there is an easy fix for this.

This is the first I have heard/seen of this problem..... I am out of the shop today but I will make some calls and try to determine what the issue is.

I just spoke with Fluidampr and they just became aware of the issue at hand..... But in any case they are working on a solution (looks like a new mounting bracket for the sensor). I am pushing for a timeline now, I will keep everyone informed.

Wouldn't it just be easier just to space the crank away from the sensor like using thicker main bearings? :-laf



Doug, can't wait for mine, has it shipped yet?? If it quiets down the nv5600 even a tad, its gotta be a good thing.

Any more news on this? I just tried to install one on my engine and was VERY disappointed that it did not fit. Did they ever test fit these things or what?

I spoke with them today and they are now telling me 3 weeks..... I too share your frustration on this issue. We will do whatever you want to fix the issue, refund, wait on new damper, etc. Just let us know what you prefer and again I appologize for the fit issue.

I bought the damper from another business, we will see what they say. I will likely just keep it and see how good Fluidampr's fix is. It looks like a very quality product otherwise. A warning to other 12 valvers out there, you might want to hold off on buying one of these units until Fluidampr fixes the tach sensor mounting issue.
