Well, I've had the darn horns in a box in the garage for well over a year and just finally got to install them last weekend...

All I can say is WOW! I'm pretty sure I can get a pedestrian to soil themselves! Not that I've tried to ;)

The install went slow, but I took my time and diagramed everything out. The install is clean and I have two switches in the cab - one to toggle between the factory horns and the combination of factory horns and airhorns - and the other switch allows me to turn off the compressor altogether.

The only snag I had was that I had to purchase new air-line since the folks at Grover only gave me about 10 feet or so with the kit. I went to Home Depot and bought what looked like even thicker air hose. But alas... . after developing two leaks immediately, I finally blew one hose right off the compressor. A trip to a big rig parts store for some Air-brake line solved the problem.

Now I just can't wait for someone to do something stupid in front of me!:D

azcummins has a set also and I heard them the other day for the first time. WOW those suckers are loud. I think if I had a horn that loud I would use it way to often. haha

I just got mine installed tonight, still have to run the main air line and wire up the solenoid, can't wait. I ordered mine through Ricksons, 24 1/2" and 21 1/2" with 6" bells, barely fit.

I have mine wired right to the regular horns without a switch. I hit the horn and everything blows. I can really pick my alrm out in a parking lot with the Hadleys blaring:D

New BIG Grovers...

Well, new to me anyway. I just got a pair of Grovers, these babies are 37 inches long and have about 8 inch bells on 'em. Cost? A whole $22:D

Just stopped by the local truck junkyard. I had to remove 'em, but that's no big deal. He wanted $30, but I only had 22 bucks on me at the time.

I'm looking into getting a PTO driven air compressor to run 'em as well as air tools for tractor repair in the field. He'll sell me a PTO for a whole $50 :D

I'm glad to hear about air horns... I can't wait to install some on my truck, its about the only thing i miss from the gasser... but as far as blowing them way to much, I hardly ever used my old Hadleys when it involved idiot drivers because I was too afraid I would cause more problems! Instead I love making YOUNG pedestrians "soil themselves"!!!! It really is great! I'm glad you like the Grovers, I still can't decide which horns to put on the new rig? Once I get the Outback Extreme Aire installed, I'll start experimenting with horns... . Up at Orange County Speedway in Middletown NY a huge tandem dump-truck put a set of classic train horns on and in between heats gets me all fired up!!! I LOVE IT! but it does lack that initial blast that "soils" kids!!!

Kid's Soiling Themselves !

When we first got electronic sirens in the 70s we had about four local GangBangers step off the curb in front of us bringing traffic to a halt. They walked as slow as possible. They were Shucking and Jiving, Just DiddieBopping along. When they got in front of the Patrol car I hit the YELP button. (sounds like an injured dog-but louder) Those kids almost fell down. Every motorist in the intersection had a big grin showing. The kids were not grinning. :D :D :D :D :D Wish we had Hadleys.

My wife was driving my Comanche, which has Hadleys on it too. She stopped for a kid in a cross walk that was determined to keep her there all day. He was dressed in those baggie pants and trying to hold them up and carry his books too. When she hit the horn the books and pants hit the street. Then she hit the throttle and got out of there!:D :D :D

I've had my grover (single) on for about a month now and let me tell you I LOVE IT. Not only do I have a trademark sound to emit for my friends and family, and it's cool to see all the nieghborhood kids give me the old lanyard motion to blow my horn, but it also woke up a few hazardous drivers. Twice I've been nearly rear ended by ricers who don't seem to mind taking a chance switching lanes behind me at the absolute very last moment, I swear it looked like his bumper actually went under my rear bumper, so I thought "OK, maybe you think you can keep doing this to everyone on the road and no one will care", so I let um have. He hit his brakes so fast, and for 12 miles he did not exceed 55 MPH, even after I passed him, he never sped past me. It ended up being a teenie bopper cruising with his friends, hopefully my wake up call will be a wake up call for him. When I installed my horn I was going to use a foot valve that I got out of an old school bus. I think it would be pretty cool to use it but I didn't want a hole that big in my floor. Have fun... ... .
