Installed my GSK today! Royal pain in the @$$! But hey I'm a novice at this stuff.
Got all the way down to the plug, had to take an arm that attaches to the shut off solenoid off the side of the pump, then finally got the plug out, and used a screw driver to turn the retainer nut. Well finally got everything out 3 springs, 2 seats, 1 shim (per side) and got the new springs in and screw driver wasn't working good enough to really "feel" the clicks of the retainer nut! So I had to go to sears anyways I picked up a tack remover on Kalaehina's suggestion. (had to drive dad's Toy-yo-yo Taco yuck!
)
Come back home and the tack remover doesn't work all that great so I ended up modifying a mini pry bar and it works like a charm!
Got the other side done and tigtened back down, and then fooled with the plug for about 15 minutes trying to get the threads to catch. Went to put my shutoff solenoid back on and the boot just ripped apart. Well seeing as I had to go to work tomorrow in this truck I took another Kalaehina suggestion and made a new boot out of a old bike tube. Then after we got the solenoid back on and everything buttoned up the truck fired right up.
These new springs are GREAT!!Oo. Oo. Great new throttle response almost like a 24V, but really revs quick in 2nd and 3rd.
My idle also came up a little. It was on the first line down from 1,000RPM (like 750-800RPM?) well now its between that line and 1,000RPM and I like it there so unless its hurting anything I'll leave it. With 33's and 3. 55 gears it makes taking off easier.
Anyways I quit babbling now. Got my spings in love it! Also ordered my clutch today! (BOMB bug got me!) Soon to have # 10 plate!!
