My Mom's 99 (see sig for truck info) has gotten really gutless when she hooks her 4 horse bumper pull trailer to it. She said that it's very very hard to get the thing rolling. She said that she has to bring the RPM's way up before letting out the clutch or it will just bog down. once she gets up to highway speed it does fine and empty it does fine. The EGT's at cruising speed are around 1200-1300 pre turbo and boost is about 15 PSI and fuel mileage has dropped from around 20 to 9:eek: Lift pump is new and showing good press. There are no codes set either.

I am thinking either MAP sensor or turbo, the truck has 195,000+ miles on it. All the intercooler boots & clamps are tight.

Thanks

Low power

I would suggest pressurizing in the intercooler system to check for air leaks to rule that part out.

Thanks for the suggestions. The only problem is my Mom and the truck live in TX so It's kinda hard for me to do any testing and probing. I will see if I can talk her through some of the tests over the phone, could be interesting:rolleyes:

In your mom's signature it says she has a boost gauge. She should be able to tell if she has a leak very easy by looking at the gauge under load. Her cruising temps are too high and the boost pressure doesn't sound right if she gets these just at cruise speed. Her temps should be around 6-700 and the boost below 10 unless she is loading it up (hill climb, accelerating, etc). The boost should be well over 20 under load. ;)

Lift pump?

There is a reflash too for those that want more towing power. Problem is that its jeckle and hyde. It worked for me but its risky. Id check the fuel supply first. Fuel filter and fuel pressure.

She lives in FT Davis, about 90 miles west of Ft Stockton and about 200 miles east of El Paso south of I-10.

The lift pump and filter were replaced about 2 months ago and the press was checked about 3 weeks ago and showed good. It had the re-flash done a couple of years ago. It has never gotten over about 27 PSI of boost, she said it has gotten to were it will climb normal to about 20 and then will take a while to get to 25 and a lot longer to reach 27. Empty it used to run about 800 EGT pre-turbo with about 5 psi and would rarely climb past 1300 and now it runs 1200 EGT and about 15 PSI empty at cruising speed and will easily climb past 1400 EGT'S.
