I heard a grinding noise from my right front brake. Upon inspection I noticed the inside pad had cut into the rotor & it was beyond getting turned. Purchased new rotor & pads from NAPA & of course they wanted to know GVW 7700 or 8800 lbs. Checked sticker 8800 lbs for my truck, which is what I thought it would be for the CTD. When I put the caliper back on there was not enough clearance between the pads to clear the rotor. I figured the caliper piston was not pushed in far enought. I purchased a rebuilt caliper & installed it. Now I had about 1/2 inch gap between rotor & pad. I than compared the new & old caliper & found the new one to be 3/4 inch wider overall. After that discovery I checked piston diameter & found the new one to be a 1/4" larger. I than came to the conclusion that the old calipers were for a 7700 lbs GVW.
