Whats The deal with ATS ???

Hi all,

Been a real bad day, went to have new rims and tires put on the truck, took my 16 year old daughter and her boyfriend with me,got a call that my house was on fire, the upstairs is pretty well distroyed, she had lit a candle in her room and she says she put it out but it must have still been hot,it gutted her room and the whole upstairs is smoke damaged, luckily the neighbors heard the smoke detectors and call 911 and they got the dogs out,she lost her fish it was in her room. .

We got the electric turned back on,they said no wiring damage was done,. .

Where do I go from here, have called AAA already and they are supposed to send an adjuster out tomorrow.

I am at a total loss we havent ever went through this,I am thankful no one was hurt my family is safe.

How is AAA going to be with this I wonder?

And to top off the day,my check for the wheels and tires would not go through and I had more than enough to pay for the tires and wheels, needless to say I was there an hour longer than I should have, finally getting that squared away.

My daugher is pretty shaken up,it was an accident for sure but she is feeling the burden,I havent skolded her, just hugged her and told her it was ok.

Thanks all,I just had to tell someone. .

Sorry to hear ... . Glad everyones OK

My friends house burned down and he had to make a detailed list of everything he lost ... may want to get your daughter on this ... it would be hard to do

good luck

Sorry to hear of your misfortune. . Thank your lucky stars no one was injured, and you had neighbors that were alerted by your smoke detectors to get the fire called in... I went thru this once a few years ago when my youngest had the turkey cooker inside the garage and lit the entire upper half when the oil got too hot... You should take as many pictures or a video as soon as possible... have pad and pen in hand and list as many things that were destroyed..... after the adjuster finishes, call in a reputable contractor to get a bid on what the damage will cost..... in most cases the adjuster will be considerably lower(in my case he was). . so I held out for 4 months until he met the bid I turned in... he not only met the $14,000 difference, but, he added another $700. 00..... you should look at an experienced carpenter, sheetrockers, electrician, and a cleaning specialist. You might not be able to do a waiting game to get the house back in shape, but, I was for a garage. . Good Luck...

DGFoster,

I'm so sorry to hear of the fire. We had a serious house fire 10 years ago in our early 1800's log home, and reading your post brought back memories and emotions like it was yesterday. We were fortunate, like you, that the only loss of life was our fish! Still, there's no way to describe what it's like to make that first trip back into the house after the firemen say it's safe.

I'll be glad to help in any way I can. Check your PM.

Lynn

Thanks Lynn,we are fortunate that we have motels close by so it is just a mile or so to get back to the house.

So far AAA is being very helpful.

Here is a few pics.
