We're planning our spring trip and are looking at Cathedral Gorge State Park in Nevada for a night or two, then over to Bryce. Any recommendations on rv camp grounds?

Yes, we were very impressed with Mt. Carmel Junction RV Park, which is between Bryce Canyon, NP and Zion, NP. Of the two parks we liked Zion much better. We even liked Zion more than the Grand Canyon.

Word of caution, it cost us $15 permit to get our dually through the tunnels at Zion, even without the 5th wheel.

I second the Mt Carmel RV park. The view across the road is beautiful. And I think I remember it is only $15 a night in the summer.

I have to vote vote for Zion. Really loved it there last year and plan to go again this year toward the end of August.

greywolf next time you go up hy101,stop at stadford rv dosent look like much from the feeway. but tell them you would like to park in the back. very nice veiw, before fortuna.

Totally agree with all the votes for Zion. Last year was my second trip to Zion and my wife and I were in total awe.

I haven't been that way in quite a while, but I will keep that park in mind. The last time heading up that way we took a ride on the just restored Skunk steam train out Willits towards Fort Bragg. That was an experience worth recommending!

We did the Zion thing a few years ago and will probably go back for a day or so on this trip. My quandary now is what is the best way to get there from the west? I think my rig is too long to take through the tunnel in Zion (I'm over 50') so we'll have to go around. I thought I found a good straight shot over but it appears the road just quits in the Dixie National Forest!

AMink, As you come into Zion from the West side, stay at Watchman Campground. That way you wouldn't have to go through the tunnels with your trailer. Better reserve early because it fills quick.

We flew to Salt Lake City and rented a Jeep Wrangler this past March. Spent 2 weeks traveling to Moab, Arches NP, Capitol Reef NP, Bryce Canyon NP, Zion NP. From Zion we headed south towards Grand Canyon NP. We stopped in Willams AZ at a tavern for lunch and a Bloody Mary and our bartendress gave us directions for a short cut through some mountains to get to Jerome AZ. That was also a highlight of the trip (wife did not like the drop-offs on the one lane road on the mountain) We proceeded to our final destination; Phoenix for a wedding. It was a great trip and if we had to choose our favorite it would be Zion NP. Did lots of hiking there for 3 days.

We will be back there someday.

Zion is a wonderful place. The DW and I stayed at Watchman last August and hiked up the canyon to the narrows. Absolutely stunning, awe-inspiring views.

Going to Yellowstone this year:D

Totally agree. Zion is awesome and so is Yellowstone and Glacier NP's.
