7 pin trailer plug layout for '05

returning emty

I had a wreck Saturday evening while towing my trailer. My daughter was with me and I was looking over talking to her when the truck hit a slick spot. Well I over reacted and hit the brakes to hard and that with the combination of the trailer brakes not working properly made the rear end of the truck come around. By the time I realized what was happening the truck had jack-knived and slammed the trailer into the drivers door. I ended up crossing the over the other lane and plowed to a stop in the ditch. Truck didn't fair so well and I'm afraid it's totaled, the trailer came out fairly well with only the hitch being bent.

I'm so sorry to hear that. Luckily you and you your daughter okey and that's the best news. Good luck with your insurance.

WOW!

Glad you are all alright. Good thing for the headache rack on the flatbed. I'm sure it helped out considerably.

Looks like it could be totaled to me also. :(

glad you and the daughter are OK! I am terrified that this will be me someday also as I put on about 6000 miles a month towing my gooseneck. Whatever you do make sure you don't let the insurance company take your truck. It is worth WAY more than what they will give you... be sure to buy it back and part it out. My last truck was a 99 regular cab and they totaled it out and I bought it back for 3015. 00 and it only had 28,000 on it. I never let them get the title to brand it salvage and had it rebuilt by a body shop out of my pocket and drove it another 75,000 miles and traded it to a Dealer for 15,000 trade value. I got 17,500 from insurance for it and had it fixed for 7500. Mine was rolled over by my evil step mother.

Too bad about the truck. The bright part is you and your daughter walked away :)

I agree on keeping the truck if they total it.

I still cant believe how the ball is bent

Was the slick spot a patch of water or what?

Yeah the road was wet. The Deputy Sherriff said a big rain storm had gone thru just before. It was just a light rain at the time of the accident tho.

I examined the truck closer last night and the rear drivers side corner of the cab is pulled in and forward from the impact of the trailer and the drivers side floorboard isn't flat anymore. It basically pushed the door in up against the driver's seat and crumpled the whole rear drivers side of the cab. Cab mount held but the sheet metal is spilt running up the back of the cab about 6" or so. The headache rack is also bent forward some.

Yeah my daughter and I were very lucky neither one of us was hurt. I appreciate everyone's concerns.

Glad all are OK. The iron and sheet metal are replaceable.

Put your name on the waiting list for a BrakeSmart right now so that you can (hopefully) have it in time to install in your replacement truck. Good luck.

I too am glade to here that you are OK, and so is everyone else on the road that day. What troubles me is your own admission that you were towing a trailer that had a brake problem that you knew about! Sorry, but ignorance is not bliss. Next time, take the time and effort to get things right before you head out on the road.

I DID NOT KNOW the trailer brakes were not functioning properly. I had tested them the previous day when I hooked up to the trailer (as I do everytime I hook up). Nowhere in my first post did I admit I knew about the problem, and had I known I would not have been pulling the trailer in those conditions. The only reason I know now they were not functioning properly was the lack of skid marks or flat spots on the trailer tires in my inspection of the wreck afterwards. So NEXT TIME you take the time and ask before you make a comment like that again. IF you wish to discuss this further we can take it to PM, if not PLEASE SHUT THE HELL UP.

Yep somebody always has to slam someone without knowing all the facts!Glad you guys were all OK. Put that baby up on a frame rack and that should pull out no problem. I have fixed a lot worse than that and you would never know they were in a wreck. Like everyone says don't let the insurance co. get it.

I'm really suprised one of the weight nazis on here hasn't been blowin' BS about your weight. I don't guess you were very heavy but they always seem to chime in with that "I told you so" attitude. I'm glad you are both OK. It could happen to any of us. PS I have of pic of your truck ( I think it's you) pulling the sled with your frt wheels in the air!!! Everyone thinks its a fake, but I know the truth. cm

My truck pulling a sled? Dont think that is mine (as it's never been hooked to a sled). I know which picture your talking about tho.

Trailer was empty actually (unless you consider a pallet and some flexpipe a load), just using it to help break in the new DTT transmission somemore.
