Was getting ready to order a torque plate for wifeys 12V, so I removed the EPA bolt and took a peek. I slid the torque plate all the way forward (as I was advised here) and OH BOY. Wifey is all :D :D :D How much more will a #11 give her? It's pretty nice now.

Not sure how much more it will give her but if you don't have gauges, your play'n with fire having the stock plate full forward. It tends to fuel hard and generates alot of heat, enough for a melt down they say?

The 11 will be a nice boost in power, with better egt managment than stock plate can give when pushed forward. I could push almost 30psi with the stock plate all the way forward, and nearly 40 with the 11 if I try. That plate should be good for nearly 300hp/700tq at the wheels in your '98... A good 50hp or so over the stock plates capability

Hopefully you scribed a line around the original plate location before you slid it forward or it will be almost impossible to slid it back to install the #11 with the template.

Well, yes, sort of. I can put the plate back in it's orignal position using the original bolt marks on the plate. How are these plates set up by the factory?

Will running it forward for a while hurt anything? She has an EGT guage.

No Problem!

You can run the stock plate full forward as long as you want to since you have the ability to watch the temps. I ran alot of miles like that but I'll tell you when I went to the #10 plate I was very, very, very, happy! I put mine in a little over half way forward and it rocks! As soon as I need a clutch I will upgrade to a SBC and slide the #10 forward. Just waiting on the money! Anyone want to donate to a good (clutch) cause? :) Have fun! Jeremy

My guess is the pump comes from Bosch all set up and ready to go. They probably have a robot assemble it to insure repeatablilty. Just watch the temps and you'll be ok I got a # 12 am going to a # 11 soon.

You mean you are going to pay $200 for a new torque plate???? Do you have a bench grinder? Grind that *******! I think you guys are anal about these egt issues. I dont think a custom cam plate will cause you engine to "melt down. "

Why is this necessary??? Why does it need to be in the orginal position? too much power?

I must agee with CumminFast I too have a custon plate and love it. As long as you dont pull on a long hill who cares about egts. Short spikes will not be long enought to hurt.

well if it ain't in the original position you could put in the new one and have less power or be off center so the needle on the rack won't contact the shape on the plate. Or if emmissions testing is a concern you can't put it back to stock. You can't grind it I compared the original to the new one and the new one has stock added the original has a notch so you would have to weld it.

Why do the notches even matter? All the plate does is stop the rack... as long as it stops it who cares? I did this to my work truck... made the plate real smooth. My other truck never had a camplate in it from the day after I bought it.

Your truck ran with out the cam plate in it and it worked just fine? Did it smoke like a freight train?
