Two saturdays ago I set out on my 10 day long vacation. 5 hours into the first day's drive, I stopped by a big dealer to see what they happened to have on their used car lot.

I have always wanted a '98 quadcab 12v 5spd 4x4 LB, but couldn't afford one in late 97 and there weren't any available when I could afford it. Well no joke, the guy took me out back to the holding lot where they just happened to have the very truck I would have ordered... quadcab, 5spd, SLT, agate interior, longbed, 3. 54 gears, except for one problem... it was solid white.

White is my last choice color, ever! I'll take any color/combination but white. I don't really like it. My '95 I now have is also white(which I wish I hadn't bought), so I really didn't want two white trucks sitting out in my driveway. The guy gave me a couple of days to think about the '98, but I called back and told him and told him "sorry, but no". My wife even knows what a find a 98 12v/5spd is and kept telling me to buy it, which made my decision even harder.

So the search continues.

Yes give me more details on the truck, white is what i am looking for so it matches my work trailer. I looked at a really nice teal green '97 dually today priced right and the mileage was low I was stoked to look at the truck cause the lady said it was a 5 speed, i get there still excited, get the keys and it was a friggen auto, looked at another truck recently and it turned out to be an auto too.

What a bummer. I would like to get another truck too, just one with an quad cab and lower miles. Otherwise exactly the same as the one I have: 98 12v auto. :D

When I was lookin for my Mule(truck) the salemen kept on showning me white trucks. I told them I wasn't lookin for a white truck.

But when I saw the Mule and it had everything I wanted (diesel, club cab, ST interior, long bed, a/c, 5spd, plus 4wd) I didn't care it was white and actually have grown to like the color.

I know that feeling. Almost a month a go I found my dream truck at a stealer. It was a 96 with 32,000 miles on it. He wanted more than book value. Wouldn't give me squat for mine. Engine warrenty was expired. I figured I would find a newer one one sometime. If its to good to be true than I get worried.

Color matters

MikeR,

I'm looking for the same truck, but I want RED. I have white and like it also but it's not RED. Everytime I see my color(RED), I don't like my truck as much even though it's a good truck with low miles. I wonder why colors mean soooooooooooo much!   HerbW

I too am the owner of a White Ram. I had NO choice either. Bought i from a friends dad, was everything I wanted 2500 2-door, long bed, 5spd, 4x4(and I had already sold my other truck). Back then I didn't know the difference between a 12V and a 24V, but fortunately my money flow only allowed about a 98. I've looked into a Intense Blue paint job, but I've got to many projects/ stuff I want to do to even make payments on one right now (my old bus driver is a bodyman, and he offered me this and I had to refuse:{ )

My Town Car, my Ram, my Freightliner are all white. and yours would be too if you lived in the Az desert!. White is also the most durable color.

For those that are wondering where the truck is at. Well, 1-1/2 days after I turned it down, someone else already went and bought it, so it's not there anymore. The body and paint were scratch and dent free, and the truck was immaculate with 100k, virgin engine. Looked like a new truck! Their asking price was $20.

That's why I feel foolish for not going for it.

cdash,

I have no beef with the 95's. I love mine, I just don't like the colorof it (it's white). Mine's a 2wd reg-cab, which is rare truck to find anywhere, so when I was shopping it was THE only one I had available to buy.

I can't grow to like the color... have already owned too many white vehicles I wished I hadn't bought.

Repainting an entire quadcab/longbed truck a different color is out of the question. For one: with all the money bodyshops make on insurance work, none of them are going to repaint an entire truck at an afordable price. For two: to do it right so none of the original color is present you'll have to remove the bed, interior panels surrounding the door openings, glass... and the next obvious when you open the hood... the engine compartment. That's alot of expense!

Over the past 8 months I have found alot of 12v/automatics, but now only 2 12v/5spd trucks (98only). The 1st one wasn't a quadcab, and it was white too.

I'd die for an all-chestnut brown or amethyst 12v/5spd quad!

I have a Metallic Red 1996, but I had a white car once, and I really like it's looks whenever it came out of the carwash. It stayed cool in hot weather, but boy did it show the dirt.

Kind of a trade off.

Another nice thing about white is that most RV trailers are white and so the truck can be pinstriped to match the trailer.

Personal choice...

Hey Mike....

What so bad about white? I love my white truck!:D I will only buy white, silver or gray from now on... . IMHO, dark colored vehicles are just too hard to keep clean. I used to have a black Jeep Wrangler and it was real b**ch to keep clean! Dark colors look awesome when they are clean, but ... . They also seem to show a lot more swirl marks.

As they say: to each his own!:D :D

Dunno about that, I tried it once. Had a black TBird. Looked good for what five minutes after you washed it? I slipped up a few years later with my midnight blue van. When I say my white truck sitting on the lot, I knew it was meant for me.
