Has anyone been able to set the TPMS below 80lbs in EVIC 2014 2500

2wd in low range?

American Axle differential cover gasket question...

I have been having trouble with the tire pressure light when I set my preferred pressure of 65psi front and 55psi rear.
the light comes on cold mornings. The front end on my truck is lighter than a 4wd and with a Gaylord's top still weighs
under 6500lbs. A couple weeks ago I was looking for the torque converter line pressure adjust feature on the Banks
Automind and that option is not available for MY 2008 but TPMS, tire diameter and axle ratio is. So I set the TPMS
to 55psi and the light didn't come on since. It is too early to tell if this procedure remedies this.
I wonder if other monitor or programming accessories can address this issue as well.

Any body have problems with the TPMS in your trucks. I have to take my truck in on Tuesday to have them work on it. The tires have 65 in both front and 80 in both rear. (according to my trusty Myers Brass Truck Tire Gauge)
Any thoughts, drove over some rail road track the indicator light in the dash board went wild flashing and the bell ringing. Then it went out started the truck in my parking spot (we live in a Condo and have Condo Gestapo to deal with) the indicator light came back on.

w6pea. I would suggest even though your truck is new is to change out the tire sensors with fresh ones.
Back when I had the OEM tires replaced, the indicator light took a while to settle down after several drive
cycles. At that time I kept the OEM sensors in. Since then the sensors were changed out with every new
tire replacement. I've been having 65psi all around then but did get the dings with 55psi rear on real cold
mornings. So far the Banks Automind reset seems to fix that. Too early to tell in the long run.
Another 2 cents.

Thank you, for the info. I called Customer Care while we were on our trip. (Through the Assist Button in U-Connect) They made an appointment for me at our dealer to get it fixed. We were in Reno Nevada, they called three different dealers in Reno, NV. and Carson City, NV. and I believe Gardnerville Nevada , Not One of them had any open appointments to look at this under warranty until after the 4th of April. Conveniently after we were to come home to San Diego. So much for Cuss Some More Service.

They called our dealer, they asked (the service writter)when we could come in to get this taken care of. (when it was convenient for us, not the dealership)

Other wise it was a good trip. Went there with money to Gamble and play with, came home with lots of their money.
If you go to Reno, don't go to the Silver Legacy, they said our truck would not fit inside of the parking garage on site. They wanted us to park the truck two blocks away from the hotel and walk back.

Is there really that much difference in the ride when comparing 60 psi to 70 psi in the fronts? I run mine between 70 and 75 all around whether towing or not. It is still a better ride than those economy cars i used to drive.

I have the light load setting. But don't use it. My truck came set on light load. But i put it on heavy load when towing and haven't bothered to put it back down on light load.

My sulastic springs in the back help a little with potholes.

The tire sensors are very accurate as to pressure-more than most tire pressure gauges. When I have time (or reason)I will set the pressures using a tire pressure monitor tool to have the exact pressure that is called for. This should be done when the vehicle tires are cold.

BTT and my first post on TDR - I'm Dave Bennett (I looked for an intro thread to no avail) and I run another Forum called American Adventurist, this forum was recommended to me by @Photowrite aka James Langan.

That said, I have 37 inch Toyo RT's on my 2016 Ram 2500 CTD 4x4 that I affectionately call the Torque Wagon. And I have TPMS issues that I'm seeking a fix for. Max pressure per Toyo is 65 PSI - so 80 PSI is never gonna happen.

I scheduled an appt to update the Uconnect 8.4 firmware and to address the TPMS system. I see new 2500's on the lot with dealer added 35's (non-80 psi tires) so I know it can be done.

So after speaking with them on the phone to schedule my appointment and CLEARLY stating my desire, I took time off work today to take it in.

Now the service writer tells me that they can't change the TPMS threshold. So I'm asking, what about all those shiny new ones there on 35's and 6 inch lifts?

...there's no fricken way that someone is going to buy a new truck with the TPMS idiot light on. Service writer says they can't "legally" change the threshold and that "somebody" does that aftermarket. Basically, a bunch of BS and a big disappointment.

I hate having my time wasted. So my next stop will be 4 Wheel Parts here where I "think" they have their lifts and tires done at (you know, the ones that they add a second sticker of like $10K for), we'll see if they have the Dodge Star or whatever software to do this seemingly simple task.

So I just spoke with the rep from DSI (a division of 4 Wheel Parts). He said they do all the lifts and tires for the dealers in this area. They use 80 PSI tires because they cannot reset the TPMS to different thresholds. Damn frustrating, but now I know that answer. On to the next option - remove dash and smash idiot light!

Welcome Dave, nice to see you posting here :)

As you know I'm a tire aficionado, and I often evaluate new and different treads on several sets of OEM take-off wheels. In addition to my general dislike for the TPMS, I have far too many wheels to consider buying sensors for all of them, and my original set are still inside my OE tires/wheels.

Recently I bought a set of rare Fourth Gen. 17" Power Wagon wheels/tires that also came with the OE sensors. I put them on my 2500 for a short drive to see how they looked and worked. (All was fine but I decided to run a different wheel.) Just like I was told by a local Discount Tire manager, Ram trucks will easily read a new/different sets of sensors, and my truck did this after a few miles.

The EVIC indicated the psi threshold for the Power Wagon sensors is 60 front and rear. This tells me that the existing limit of the sensors is/was more important than what is programmed into my truck's ECM. So maybe a new set of replacement sensors can be programmed for a lower threshold [but good luck finding someone willing to do it]. Or maybe a set of a 1500 Ram sensors will already be where you want? The 1500 idea is interesting because you may be able to provide them to a tire store, have them added/installed, and not have to ask for any programing, just a straight R&R.

Related, we understand the that the new 3500 trucks have a different, informational system, but maybe it's the sensors (or OE sensor programming) that is actually different? Maybe some 3500 sensors in a 2500 would act like many of us would prefer, with just data?

For the record, I simply live with the TPMS light. If it flashed constantly it would drive me nuts, but since it changes to a steady glow after about 80 seconds I just ignore it.

This is a major bummer....I'm not gonna lay out big bucks for a Power Wagon when I have to have overfilled tires or watch an idiot light stare at me in my new truck.....ughhhhh

We (dealers) had the capabilities to change the pressure setting but it is a legal issue. Some brainiac had to broadcast how to do it on the brand x forum. This caused FCA to pull that capability out of our scan tools.........

http://www.cumminsforum.com/forum/2013-general-discussion/1670642-how-set-tpms-any-pressure-82.html

Starting somewhere around page 80 or so there is news on a new programmer that has been successful in changing the TPMS. The programmer costs something like $1300, so its probably beneficial to find someone near you that has one. There is a guy near me in Maryland that is changing the pressure for $50 a truck. It requires me to contact Ram and get a PIN specific to my vehicle in order for him to access my programming.

I've dropped my rear tires to 50psi for the last month or so and that seems to be a great pressure for me. Stock 18" Transforce tires are rated at 2680 lbs at 50 psi, enough for all of my needs with the 2500. At 80 PSI the tires are rated for 3640 lbs... way more than the rear axle is rated to carry.

For the life of me....I cannot figure out why someone would want all the awesome features of a Power Wagon, but one light on the dash is enough to decide "meh", never mind....I really don't want a winch, selectable lockers, electric swaybar disconnect etc, etc. etc...... if there is an unwanted light on the dash

I will occasionally air down when off road, usually just for sandy terrain. Given the Power Wagon is designed for off road use I would find it annoying too. Blame the lawyers I guess.

but enough to make you decide you don't want said truck anymore? It just seems odd that a light on the dash takes enough away from the overall package to decide you don't want that capability anymore.
