I took a trip to Billings, in my 99. When I was there, I went to Rocky Mountain Cummins, and had some work done to it. Anyway, When the Mech opened the hood, he pointed to my air filter indicator. IT WAS PEGGED
. It was a brand new filter, when I left home. And, I took my 04 on a trip, not so long ago, and had the same thing happen to it.
Both times I encountered the same kind of road conditions. There was a fine drifting of snow blowing across the road. I am fairly certain that the intake structure, the way it is designed to get air from the inside of the front fender, has a tendency to draw this fine snow in with the air, and plug the filter.
Am I correct in assuming this? Has anyone else had this phenomenon?
When I took the filter out, both times, there was nothing there to indicate a bad, or plugged filter.
