2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission has anyone figured out a way to put the 03 track bar on the previous Ram trucks?

track bar prices

Last time I paid below $ 100. 00 for a track bar was back in the early 70's. Those days are gone forever along with . 25 gallon gasoline and . 10 gallon diesel! LOL Heck we need to rebuild a country in the middle east so our money is being put to good use!! LOL Ha!

There are still a few sub $100, or very close to it, trackbars available. The Federal Mogul bar for our truck is $105 at Advanced Auto, at least at the AA here in SW Michigan they are. I don't imagine they are all that great but with the lifetime warranty you get a free one whenever you want.

I'm torn between replaing my trackbar with a $105 same OEM style POS and replacing every 10k miles :) or dropping the extra money now on Darrien's setup. I wish the 03 trackbars were cheaper. I wonder how long it will be before Moog offers a more affordable replacement trackbar for the 03's?

I would think that the 03 track bar is rebuildable, as you can replace the bushings with some real high quality polyurethane parts. These should last quite a long time! I prefer to rebuild than replace as the aftermarket usually comes out with a better part than what the factory originally installed on a vehicle. At least sometimes this is true!

OK, so I know Darrin's bar is new, but between the DT & Darrin's, which would everyone recommend? I am tired of the wander. Yes, I have the DSS and it did help, but it's still not great.

Thanks.

DT Bracket w/ '03 track bar?

I've got a DT track bar on my '99. I love it except for one thing -- can't use a Mag-Hytec cover with it because the bar's straight. The '03 sounds like a good solution since it has the "arch" to clear the diff cover and I could add that long-desired Mag-Hytec.

I'm wondering -- can I put an '03 trackbar on my truck and use the DT mounting bracket?????

Does the axle end mount without modification (i. e. same length & diameter bushing)?

Anyone know how long the '03 track bar is (center of bushing to center of bushing).

What length/diameter are the bushings on each end?

One more note to those talking about lowering the frame mounting point: If you lower the mounting point of the track bar and you don't lower the pitman arm/drag link mounting point then I think you'll introduce some bump steer.

What's the verdict? Is this the holly grail or just another temporary solution?

I have always thought the steering on my 98. 5 was marginal and needed to be micro managed. How do you tell whether the Lukes link or the DT track bar or the DSS unit or perhaps even this 03 set up will be the answer. Are these competitors or do they all address different problems? AC

So has anyone purchased one and started using it?? Any reports??

I'm REALLY interested in one as I have D25's waiting to be installed. Currently, they are only waiting for some results from Darin's setup as I'm going to need it to re-align the front axle after the spring install.

For me, it's DT or Darin's. But I'm not quite experimental enough to give Darin's a shot yet without some good ol' feedback from the TDR.

Has anyone taken the plunge yet??

Maybe we should start another thread for those who have and have feedback! If anyone has installed one and wants to talk about it, please feel free to do so.

I have the bracket. As soon as I get a trackbar I will let you know how it compares to the Luke's Link setup I am using now.

That would be great! I'm sure there are many who are anxiously waiting for the first report.

Any initial opinions on the bracket / hardware / instructions?

Did you order it directly from Darin at solidsteel?

I emailed Darin early last week and still have not received a reply. I think others have had the same experience. Kind of disconcerting.
