Has anyone straight piped a 600 yet? How does it sound? Does the cat make the noise slightly less obnoxious than a straight piped 3rd gen with no cat?

I want to improve the sound of my truck, but even I will admit that the straight piped 3rd gen’s are a little too loud for driving around in the city. I am looking for something that will be about 8/10’s as loud. I am hoping that the cat will tame the exhaust down just slightly.

How do you guys think the cat will hold up? These trucks don’t produce much soot stock, but what will happen once we start bombing? I am tempted to cut out the muffler and cat and install an aftermarket muffler, or even replace the whole exhaust for an aftermarket unit.

I would replace the muffler with straight pipe and replace the cat with a dynomax race magnum "bullet" (which is basicly just a resonator)

should give you that 8/10ths sound you're lookin' for! ;)
