There is a 6. 4 PSD topic about aftermarket mods being available or not due to the stricter emissions and EGR stuff on TheDieselStop.

I posted about the Smarty not being detectable. One Ford owner is really doubtful, I don't know if he is jealous or what.

Anyway, who has a Smarty that HAS been detected by the dealer? Anyone? I would really like to shut him up.

Nick

There are tell-tales that are left behind when the switch is done that the dealers can detect, usually checksum errors. Supposedly the Smarty is the only one out that does not leave, or more likely, removes the tell-tales. I know a guy who set his Powerjoke back to stock after a rod broke (yeah, like a superchip will make enough power to do that, Ford just doesn't want to warranty anything) at less than 10k, they promptly called him after scanning it and was refused warranty because a programmer had been used on the truck! My brother owns a performance shop specializing in Mustangs, he says the work around is to do a full dump before taking it to the dealer, which will get rid of all codes and tell-tales, at least for Ford's.

I reset my computer back before I had the VP44 replaced. The mechanic, who I know very well, asked if I had disconnected the battery to reset the codes. That is the only sign that the Smarty leaves when it is switched back to stock.

I can handle telling them that I disconnected a battery. :-laf

I have had my truck in maybe 3 or 4 times. With no complaints. but then again I also took it in with my fass and injectors too with no complaints. I am friends with the people that work at the dealership that I go to so it is hard to say if they found it and just didnt say something. When I had a hypertech that was discovered by another dealer.

They know because other programmers erase the key cycles regardless of returning to stock or not. A 4 yr old truck, etc. with 10 or 15 key cycles... . not normal. Smarty doesn't play in that game!!!!

I have looked at 03,04,and 05's they do not leave any trace detectable at the dealer level. Not much reason to worry about 2nd gens, parts are no longer restricted and most are already out of coverage. Key cycles are not the biggest worry, there is a lot more to look at ;)

A lot more to look at as in what the dealers will find? Or how?

My truck will hit the 5 yr mark in July. They don't go by the manufactured date, they go off of the date the truck was signed for by the first non-dealer owner.

Ben

any good mech can tell with a laptop, your sensors will all be reading higher than normal readings witch get recorded . know as for if the local dealer level can tell or not with a scanner I don't know but if a corp rep comes down with a laptop and goes into the computer deeper he could tell. atleast that is what I have been told.

That's what I have heard also. I just meant by the dealer. If the dealer has a Cummins or DC tech come look at it, chances are you're screwed anyway!

Nick

Depends on the Smarty being able to erase logged codes and events. If the Smarty can do that, then the ECM is just like new, no learned info. left in its memory.

There is a lot of data that we can see, along with freeze frames ;)

The third gen smarty has it licked. The 2nd gen like I said before is a non issue so I have never bothered to look.

Care to elaborate?

Not really... ... ... can't reveal everything :D You may have noticed Quad has been trying to get info on how Marco accomplishes what he has done. Lets just say that Marco has done his home work and I like the results.

I'm glad I saved and reinstalled the "Void" sticker at the VP prior to the dealer visit.

Just shout out your defrauding the dealer. Somethings are better left unsaid. You had a perfect post...

(yes, I understand the entire dealer defrauding us, us defauding them game, but sometimes it's better left unsaid... )

Two Cents out...
