I want to upgrade to a new clutch. So my question is which one! I was going to do a search, but well you know. If any one has any info or an opinion ha ha . Please let me hear it. I am going to be doing some more mods soon so i would like to start with the clutch since the Tst has already taken the stocker to the wind. Thanks much one and all.

PS. also where to locate and best price ?

South Bend South Bend South Bend! Check out Peter's website at www.southbendclutch.com for more info-if you call or email Peter will give you his honest expert opinion on which is right for you. He can probably point you to a vendor close to you too-I know of 3 in Canada off the top of my head but am a little fuzzy on who exactly is selling them south of the 49th!

What's your HP goal? and how are you going to use your truck?

Peter has set me up wonderfully, and has taken care of me.

My Dad somehow managed to rip the center out of a SBC Con OFE. He was towing at ~30,000 pounds GCW (Truck+Trailer) my truck has DD1's and he had the PE Comp on 5x5. He didn't match the RPM right (Way off on RPM and WOT) and "Popped" the clutch. I'm glad the clutch gave,, otherwise an input shaft, U-Joints, rear-end or SOMETHING more $$ would've let go. Peter's clutches are great designs, they work like a clutch is supposed to.

Give South Bend a call. Top-Notch.

EDIT: Peter warrented the Clutch. I didn't even buy the Clutch from him. I bought it from Fred Swanson of Desert Diesel Parts.

I could've just asked Peter for another clutch of the same, but opted for the conversion clutch. that clutch comes with a new flywheel and the clutch itself is 13" compared to the smaller 5-speed clutch. (Not sure on 5-speed size)

All I had to pay was the difference and shipping !!!!

Peter even helped me out when My Dad blew up my 5-speed's input shaft. With the stock clutch!! (He gave me references and stuff)

Southbends seems to have a great reputation buy man they are proud of those things!!! Too much in my book considering my friend who has several semi's can get a new clutch installed for $800.

Some people like TST clutches so I'm looking into that route. They are considerably cheaper.

How did your Dad manage to break an input shaft with a stock clutch?????????????

What is his middle name, Ronnie Sox?

I was under the impression stock clutches would slip or rip the centers out before the input shafts would let go.

Must be the stacks?!?!?!?!;)
