So I bought a $1300 cummins in non running condition a while back. It needed injector tips and a lift pump. It's about as beat up as these things get. It has 379k miles on the odometer, which doesn't work.. So I found a he351w for 550 usd and installed it on my cummins. The exhaust down pipe was shortened 1.5 inches. I had to make an oil drain spacer from aluminum I had laying around. The factory oil drain bumped into the waste gate actuator (which I kept) so I pushed the drain pipe down ~3/8 of an inch into the rubber hose it connected to and fabri-cobbled a spacer using a belt sander and a band saw. Also, there was a long bolt keeping the turbo from clocking proper, so I band sawed that little bugger as well. The he351w has a smaller compressor wheel than the he351cw, it is 58mm vs 60. But the exhaust housing is 12cm vs 9cm for the he351cw. I had the 18cm exhaust housing on my old h1c. Oem oil feed fit. This is my first post, so I'm sorry if I do anything wrong

Hows it perform ? I had the he351cw on my truck for a while and it ran fine but the egts got way to how, but it sounds like you shouldnt have those issues

Well I haven't turned my pump up to match the new air flow yet, but it spools faster for sure. Seems to build good boost but I wont know how much until I hook up my boost gauge. I have to pass emissions so I'm going to have to wait to do anything fun. I will update once I've driven it for a while.

Seems g2g so far. Spool is great, I was able to turn my pump up without smoke, so it has enough air now. Drives MUCH better now. Still no gauges, but I can tell I'm not making near 40lbs...I might need bigger injectors and a higher flow fuel pump. Will update later

Arizona. It's the opacity test. Last year I failed beause I had the pump turned up, timing advanced, and the ksb wired hot. The guy laughed at me when I asked if I passed

Too many Kommiforniians and Yankees have moved to Arizona-I'm sure there were some Apaches who would know how to have dealt with them!

Of course I can remember when it wouldn't have taken two days horseback ride to get across Phoenix...
