Just put a new gasket on my '01 24V and used Snap-On's new "angle torque" torque wrench. 80 ft lbs + 90*(1/4 turn) = approx 125 ft lbs. The torque value flashes after you reach your specified angle.

I used ARP lube under the bolt heads and on the threads with brand new Cummins head bolts.

Just thought everyone would like to know.

On my 12 valve, but not on the 24. Just don't need the added expense and I've seen lots of other 24 valves fare well around the 500hp mark with bolts and no rings.

I should also say that this truck was serviced for the external coolant leak common on 24V engines, not because it blew under pressure.
