In 2015 I overheated the engine and broke a head bolt on the exhaust side at 350k. It broke the same as yours did - sheared flush with the surface of the head. At the time there was a national back order on head bolts. I have a friend that owns a diesel repair shop so he gave me a 24v head bolt that he had laying around and said good luck. 24v bolts are a fair bit longer than 12v bolts so I had to put a bunch of washers under it. I figured I'd rebuild it in a few months so what the hell. A few months turned into 4½ years and it's still clamped, gets 18mpg, and has 425k on it. I think yours will be ok.

Joe’s right! Today’s my wife’s birthday, headed back to reality tomorrow. Watched the sun set at Fort Island, Crystal River tonight.

Tuesday is my wife's birthday, I'll be making (and eating too) some tasty treats to go along with dinner. Got to feed them at least once a year. Helps keep them in shape. Safe trip home, glad the head bolt is hanging in there for you.
