Does anyone have the part #'s for a 93?

I'm going to rev her up a "little" bit new gov spring, a newly ground fuel pin and some port work on the exhaust.

3920779 - short head bolt - 6 required

3920780 - med. head bold - 14 required

3920781 - long head bold - 6 required

3901448 - exhaust manifold bolts - 12 of you choose to replace

4089649 - Top end set - includes your head gasket, injector install kit (less the rectangular seals that go on top of the nut that holds them in the head), exhaust gaskets, intake manifold gasket, and numerous other parts. It does NOT include the air heater gaskets.

If you are going to be that far in, you might want to go ahead and replace the push rod cover gasket (3907617). I had a major oil leak there when I went in to mine.

AS for the valve springs, just call up PDR, or any other major diesel supplier, and ask for the 12V HD valve springs. You will need 2 sets (6/set).

Hope this helps some :D

Maybe I'll jump in here with an option...

After some testing on a couple high HP trucks, using twins no less, a great mod for our trucks is to replace the headbolts with studs.

We are pushing these trucks/heads well beyond the design limits and head gaskets are now becoming the next "weak link" for us... myself included.

Results have shown that we can replace each head bolt with a stud, while keeping the stock head gasket in place.

The process is simple... . just pull one head bolt and replace it with a stud, going all the way down one line of bolts then move in to the next and work your way up. .

Anway, just a thought since we're pushing hard and these engines are starting to show the weaknesses that have, in the past, been reserved for the big guys and their high HP second gens.

just a thought...

Hey Bob,

So you are saying that the head bolts can be replaced with studs without removing the head? Hmmmm. There ya go gettting me thinking again. :D

What kind of torque do you use on the nut with studs? Is it safe to assume that the head can then be retorqued at a later time?

So many ???.

Carl

I believe he told me it is 125 lbs ft of torque on these suckers... . I don't recall fo'sho.

Now the headlights, they was another sight, had two on the left and one on the right, but when we pulled out the switch all three of 'em come on

Did I mention I'm a bit of a fan of the man in black? I bet I have that song on at least 2 different CDs in my truck right now.

... ... ... The physo-billy Cadillac... ... ..... "Ahh, netatory on the cost of this here mo-chine"!:p "You might say I went to the factory and,,, picked it up":)... .....

... ... . Cheaper that way :-laf :-laf

Ummmm..... that kind of music will make you loose yer hair... . ;):D

As for the studs, you replace them one at a time and torque to 120-125 lb-ft.

When you install the stud turn them down to bottom and back out 1/2 turn, then install the nuts.

You shouldn't need to retorque as far as I know but I'll confirm that for you tomorrow...
