07.5-12 Harmonic Damper question?

2014 Ram 2500 Crank No Start

It sounds like he asked for advice, got good advice but then did what he had decided on before asking for advice. “A fool and his money are soon parted”

there is always that one guy who will ask everybody else how to do something, and they will continue to ask the question until they find the one person who would do it exactly the same way they intended too in the first place.. idea it might be the most difficult expensive way to do something doesn't seem to dissuade them. go figure.

at a shop right now and they think it's a head gasket. It's not using anti-freeze, and oil looks good,

update on my head gasket issue, talked to the mechanic yesterday, from the loss of coolant

Your first post, "It's not using anti-freeze" and your last post, "talked to the mechanic yesterday, from the loss of coolant". When did you start losing coolant?

I am posting in hopes of encouraging you to delay the costly replacement of a head gasket that is likely not to be the problem. Try the inexpensive repairs first - make sure the radiator and intercooler are clean, try a new quality thermostat, purchase a coolant system pressure tester and run your test on a cold engine. Continue to drive and monitor the truck.

And, like others are saying, towing heavy loads up long grades like your 18,000 lb trailer (over 25,000 lbs GCW) and reporting coolant temperatures even higher than yours, is normal.

Update on the Head gasket project, the gasket was bad and the head was warped, bad enough you could see daylight under it,so it was sented off and machined and pressure tested, and new head studs so we should be good to go, Terry

Another update on my head gasket project, the head was removed and it was pretty badly warped,so it was machined and pressure tested, BUT we ran into a other problem,I guess on pre 2012s Ram has run the heater hose under the exhaust manifold, and I guess in the process of removing it, it developed in pinhole leak, they tried to find a new new one and they are on a three month backorder, so they tried to braze it and that didn't work,so they went looking at wrecking yards and couldn't find one ,so they went looking on E-bay and found a used one,so we are waiting on that one, hopefully this will work.,don't want to wait three months or longer to get my truck back. Terry

Did the truck already have studs, or did they sell you on studs as part of the head gasket replace. Also "Could see daylight" isn't exactly an accurate way to check the head surface. Did they actually measure the flatness of the head? How much material was removed?

The heater tube leak explains the loss of coolant, independent of any head gasket issue. What surface finish did the shop put on the head? If not smooth enough, you will have a head gasket failure in your future.
