My head lights are flicking on and off on and off... . Its a early 98 12valve. . i've checked the fuses in cab and under hood and nothing is blown where should i search or look for? I am at a completel loss as i can't drive at night due to the cops around my house and abnormal light flickering...

Try checking your ground(s), should be up near headlights. Could also be a sign of the light switch going out mine did that I jiggled the knob or held in the correct position before I replaced it.

I have no replaced the light switch and the flickering occurs only when my high beams are on but if i start the truck and only run with the lights on normal beams it does not flicker or cut out at all till i flick it to high beams then it cuts out! and will continue to flicker. How do i get into the colum and check for the hi low relay? Where do i start or look for??

The dimmer switch is located in the mulit function switch (turn signal lever is attached to it). I do not think there is a relay invoved just the multi function switch. Could be a loose wire at the multi-function switch connector.

Three srews hold the colum cover on you should be able to reach the multi-function switch then. The multi-function switch mite have torx bit screws but I don't think they are tamper proof ones.

You need to look in the power distribution box under the hood and see if there is a relay for high and low beam. I don't remember if there is one but I think there is one to turn the fog lights off and on with low beam because I rewired it to turn my driving lights on with high beam. It may be that relay that switches between high and low beams.

Because it is just effecting high beams, I suspect the problem is in the multi-function switch located on the steering column, I would start there.

The Hi/Low beams share the same 40A fuse in the PDC to the Headlamp Switch in the dash, then over to the column where it is split for Hi or Low beam operation (two separate paths out to the headlamps). There is no relay in the circuit.
