Ok. I have an unusual problem (at least I think it is). When it is temp drops below 35°F and I start the truck for the first time in the morning my left headlight refuses to light up when I turn on the lights. I can turn them off and right back on again and it comes on then. Also shows up on the dash as “lamp out” next to the odometer (which is the only way I knew I had a problem). Has anyone heard of this before?

Thanks in advance for your time.

I'm having a similar problem, but I have driving lights tapped into the highbeams and the left side disconnects after a while. I seems temperature has a little to do with it. The headlight circuits are too sensitive.

Check the ground. I had a problem with the right headlight and it turned out to be the ground wire mounted near the battery. Both sides are completely different circuits and do not even ground together. There seems to be more than a fair share of electrical gremlins in these trucks. I have had three so far... all very annoying and time consuming to find.

thanks for the replies. i will check the ground first thing in the morning. just seems weird that it only does it on cold mornings:confused:

never had a problem when it was warm. it did this last spring when it was cold but never did it again once it warmed up. go figure?

thanks again

I HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM WITH HEADLIGHT drivers side. SOMETIMES IT WONT COME ON ON FIRST START UP OF THE DAY..... ONCE I GET IT WORKING, IT WORKS ALL DAY. IT'S BEEN AT DEALERS FOR A WEEK & THEY CAN'T GET IT TO FAIL.....

Do a search for my other posts i have been having that same problem, and with talking with the dealer, it sounds like the front controal module. Well the truck is going in for that on tuesday. .

What light bulbs are you running?? Stock?? I have tryed Stock, Silverstars, And APC bulbs. .

The aftermarket bulbs seam to produce the problem more often, and the stock bulb less.

Lets all stay on top of this one my buddy has the same problem.

Its funny this came up. I have been running the stock head lights for 30,000 miles (over a year) and not one single problem with them ever.

Well the other day I put in a set of the Ultra White aftermarket bulbs that I got from Napa. Right from the start with these the driver side head light doesn't come on with the switch, but hit the high beam switch once and it come on and stays on. So figure that one out.

Also why is it that the bulbs are called Ultra White yet they are Blue? Also I can't notice any great improvement in how bright they are.

I'm beginning to think my problem is related to humidity/moisture. Tonight(more dry) I did not have the drivers side go out but last night it was more humid and the drivers side kept tripping.

Trust me it's the bulbs!!!

Now the front controal module should not be that pickey!!!

The way it works tie module measures the restance across the bulb and if not correct to factory speck, it module will shut off the power feed... Also used for the lamp out light on the dash. .

This feature only works or the high beam, low beam, stop light, turn sig, running light front and rear. this does not apply to the roof lights, backup lights, third brake light ect.

sorry i haven't checked back in a while.

i am running stock bulbs. it only does this when it is cold. i don't have any problem when it is warm. the only thing that i can think is it has something to do with the power the grid heater draws??? if i turn off the light switch and turn it right back on it works fine. only does this the first time i start the truck for the day. doesn't always do this on every morning though which makes it weird. doesn't seem to mater if i plug the truck in or not. :(
