Heads up on Power Pup

My truck is programmed with the performance code and I just had a black key made. The truck starts and turns off, so the Anti Theft works.

Performance mode. My over head display is right on the money. No lights on dash when installing. Skim works. Same milage as before. Late 04 with no extra flashes.

travisch, I agree that if it say's it will restore to origional then it should. I got mine and am afraid to try it now. I did read about the grey key issue but nothing else. To explain I am in my 60s and like to have fun and a hot vehicle. I don't have the ability to be my own warranty station. At least if it worked as advertised I would be able to flash it to stock and see what Dodge would do if there was a problem. Did you hear anymore from Bullydog? If they have not solved this problem I guess I will send mine back untried for a refund. You guy's are all great and it is good to see so many opinions on all issues on this site. Thanks everyone. If you install a power mod to your truck, you could become your own warranty station. Will you have any problems, possible not probable. On the performance mode this box is fairly mild mannered. On extreme, you will be buying a clutch or a transmission..... There is also a small chance that it leaves a trace of being there. IF so, Dodge might find it and your warranty is toast. I for one have never needed a powertrain warranty.

as to the code from the security key,,,it is a false alarm. security feature still works. use a key without the chip in it and truck will NOT start. strange thing is the ecm does not have anything to do with the security feature but still picks up a code which is strange.



also,,,,,,,,as to the fast idle feature being disabled. this will be resolved shortly. in addition, a fast idle program will be installed into the downloader program that will let ya install an adjustable fast idle program onto your trucks ecm. this will even be available even on the 03 model trucks



as to those who stack with pressure boxes such as the torque dog and ez,,,,,,,,,,,,, no need to unplug pressure box when ya download. makes no difference. and a few folks are downloading stock program back on between changes. for example if they have the tow program on and wish to go to insane program they 1st download stock program. this is unneccesary. just go to which ever program ya want



well,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,been enjoyin my pup. slight mpg increase when i dont play with all the power. and its sure hard not to play Oo. imo this is the best power upgrade in exisitance. great power and cool egt and easy install. and the fact that it gives power from timing/duration/pressure all in moderation. no excess rail pressure. said it b4, gonna say it again. this pup rocks

If I already bought one how will I be able to make the the bddl adjust the high idle?? Will I have to buy a new one to have that feature?? Or will I have to send it in?? Thanks for all the great info... By the way mine is in the mail It shipped out today cant wait... . Oo.

The P0633 code is only written once when downloading a Pup. It is erasable after driving the truck. It never comes back if you don't change the load. My guess is that whatever sensor there is that actually senses the key cant see the mother ship during the download, thus the code. Skim works fine on my truck.

very nice. So you get no codes on the instrument panel when you cycle to the run position three times. And you know that SKIM works on your truck because you copied your grey key onto a dumb blank and the dumb key doesn't start your truck. And the outlook monitor succesfully sees and clears all codes. sounds to me like there are no issues! I haven't kept up with all of the discussion here but I thought there were some codes that were not going away



I'm sure someone has to figure out what is executable code and what is data. otherwise bullydog would not have known how to surgically change just the fueling "tables" (data). in the end, it does not matter if you write only certain portions of the code DIRECTLY inside the ECM or you perform those modification OUTSIDE the ECM (what bullydog does). either way, it should work and it should not break anything. I think we would all allow for the fact that a code or two may get thrown during the download, but if those can be cleared, AND there is no loss in any functionalty (zero, nada, high idle, SKIM, the whole thing), then we have a bingo. otherwise we have something less than a bingo, which some would call a hack.

The PTO has to have the box hooked up as I understand it. It isn't a high idle feature that downloads into the PCM. From what I understand in Muddymess' post, is that a high idle feature is going to be incorporated into the box to be downloaded to the ECM. Which brings up WPeschel's question, (and mine). If I already have a BDDL, how do I acquire that function? Do I have to send the box back in, or is there some other way to get updates to this box?

wp,,,,,,,,,the pto setting has a fast idle feature on it. only downside is the box must be plugged in to use that function. the instructions give details how to. in a short time the program for fast idle will be downloadable to be installed when you download one of the performance programs or stock prgrm. use cruise cntrl buttons just as ya wld with the dc download for the fast idle for fast idle up to 1500 rpm in 100 rpm increments.

the nice thing bout the fast idle is it will be able to be installed onto the 03 trucks, unlike the fast idle function from d. c. which is for the 04, o4. 5 and 05 models only. as to being available on the 6 speed,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,well,,,,,,,,as ya know the reason dc doesnt offer the fst idle function on the 6spd is because of a possible safety issue. weather or not b-dog will take the same approach it is not known at this time. but i am hopefull that if it is possible for them to download the fast idle program onto the 6speed truck they would do so. lets cross our fingers.

Don"t expect Bully Dog to have any features in the DL, The Software is leased from DC at $2,400. 00 for a Three year subsricption ,It is not legal to install it in any device outside of the DRB III, the subsricption can only be tranfered ,It cannot be sold.
