I just bought this truck and it has powervision mirrors. My biuld sheet says the truck had power extend mirrors with heat but dont see how to operate the heat. also the fuse panel is missing dont know which fuse is for the mirrors. Just one more thing all the fuses and relays for the abs pump

I just have regular mirrors on my 02. (heated). But the heat control is a long flat button on the dashboard. I think its just to the right of the steering wheel. Maybe just under the heater control.

Don't mean to hijack the thread but does anybody know if the power fold out style mirrors had heat? Or a part number on them? That button is indeed as you described Tractorat, If you need photo's Bradyw I can snap a few.

I just went out and looked at my truck. On the 02 the button is just below the temp control. As old as the truck is, the lettering is probably faded away and doesnt jump out at you. So, you have to really look to see it.

I looked but will take pics didnt see anything just wondering if sombody change something will post pics tonight. Does any one have info or know of a thread about the abs relays build sheet says its only rear axel that has abs

Jclark 5810 Please send or post pics that would help see if someone has changed something

I'm not sure if it's the same on a 97 as it is on an 02' but i'll post some. Like mentioned above, mine is a little button by the climate controls that just says mirror.

I have a sales brochure for 2001. It says the available mirrors were the regular mirrors (heated) which is what I have, and the "towing" mirrors which it says were standard for 01. For the towing mirrors, it does not mention that they are heated. So, Im guessing they are not. I do think I remember seeing on the tdr way back that the extended mirrors are not heated. The guy to ask would be HBarlow.

Bradyw I won't be able to post pics until tomorrow, sorry I can't find my camera. As far as the towing mirrors, I found the Kool-Vue mirrors to have everything I'm looking for as far as a power, heated, foldout mirror. Not sure if anyone has any experience with these. Joe,

I think the gen 2 factory tow mirrors are manual and no heat. I replaced my '02 factory power/heated standard mirrors with the Kool-Vue power/heated tow mirrors. They work well. The only issue is the power mirror switch hits one of the mirror mount studs. I cut the tip off stud for better clearance once I got the mirror fastened in. It still hits the nut and pushes the door panel out a tad but is barely noticable.

The 2000-2002 trucks had power, heated regular mirrors with the flip up tow mirrors optional. The tow mirrors were manual and not heated. 2003 was the first year the tow mirrors were power/heated. Some of us converted our pre-2003 tow mirrors to power/heated tow mirrors by getting a set of 2003 tow mirrors and swapping those heads onto the pre-2003 tow mirror bases.

Here is a picture of the one in my 01 that was posted in another thread. I have no idea if it is the same as a 97 but it should be identical to an 03.

Yah that button is not on mine ill try to post pics soon i have powervision on there but the build sheet said it had power extend and heat thanks

Pretty sure in 97 the only power / heated mirrors were not the flip up towing mirrors. My 01 came with towing mirrors that had to be manually adjusted. I bought an after market set of power / heated ones and had to add the two switches. The good part was the wiring was already there from the factory.

Joe I bought them on line from a company called Option Racing. They're the the Kool Vue ones mentioned in another reply. They're Chinese made but fit well and have been on my truck for at least 2 years with no problems.

Joe one more thing to keep in mind. If you're not replacing the manual mirrors and are upgrading to them from the smaller power adjustable ones you'll need to buy the backing plates that are used with the towing mirrors from Dodge. They don't come with the aftermarket ones.

Thanks for the heads up! Yeah I bought some a few years back for a 99 I had, I thought they had sent the wrong studs because they were too "long". Now that i'm better educated, thanks to TDR, I realized I never ran those backing plates. I ended up just buying shorter studs, now I know what to do. I found some on eBay, Mopar box and everything for like $40 shipped I believe, i'm going that route. I have the small mirrors now but they are power and heated. I want to keep both those features but just upgrade to the foldout tow mirrors.

Anyone changing out their mirrors may want to get a box of door panel fasteners before you start. The old ones get pretty ugly when they are removed

Yeah i was worried about that. I was going to go to Napa and buy a thing of the universal ones or what have you but these will be perfect! Thanks for the great link. Admittedly though I had to hurry up and put them in the cart and checkout without browsing much, too much neat stuff:-laf

Thank you both gentleman!
