Heated Washer Fluid Reservoir?

Y not just go to the dollar store or sams and buy alcohol and fill your tank with that it seems to work very well in an airplane.

I tried this on my '92 CTD. Replaced the original 1/8" tubing from the pump to the nozzles with longer pieces. I rerouted and wrapped the tubing around the outside of the heater hose for about a foot or so. Don't know what the temp was of the water at the outlet nozzles, but it work well for removing heavy frost from the windows. And yes I used low temp (-25 degree stuff) straight from the bottle. I was bored and just messing around with an idea. Worked fine and was very low tech.

DF5152: Only until you replace them from wearing out, and again, and again ... . No thanks. Besides it wouldn't do much for clearing the windshield, only keeping the wipers from freezing.

This is my "secret" too... I use this in my cars and I don't have to use a scraper half the time... and now that I "can't" reach the windshield on the truck, I'm hoping it works as well.



An added plus is that the wipers don't need much use in the spring at highway speeds in the rain as the formula helps the windshield to blow clear. It's cheap and no additional points of failure to wory about.

why do they wear out faster than regular blades

I doubt if they do? I replace my blades twice a year (spring, fall), and the heated ones are a lot more expensive, aren't they?



I would be replacing them every fall, what do they cost?

they r 50 to 60 for the intial cost and about half that to replace... . depneding on the brand

Mercedes has ran coolant lines through the washer fluid resivior for quite a while now... . at least since the 560SL (early 80's). They rarely have problems. Maybe someone could convert a MB system to our tanks.
